runningSriLankan:

UCB: Reach (out of state, Engineering)

I think you'll get into these colleges:

Wash. U. in ST. Louis
Carnegie Mellon
Harvey Mudd (maybe)

You might want to check out Cornell, which sometimes gets the moniker of Best Ivy League Engineering. If it weren't for the cost (even after substantial aid), I might have picked it over Berkeley's engineering program.

MIT- super reach
Harvard- super reach
UCB- reach
WashU- slight reach
CMU- match

I agree, if you're interested in engineering and are considering Harvard, I'd definately consider Cornell. Arguably the best ivy in engineering, easier to get into.

I'm rather interested in Harvard's Public Health program, I'm completing an internship there, and my mom is faculty too - so I thought I'd at least try. But yes I'll look into Cornell. Overall, Carnegie Mellon and Wash. U. are the ones that seem most realistic for me - and they allow me to follow other pursuits such as athletics.

What should i do to become more competitive? Essays? How can i market myself as "different" from other asians?

Thanks all for your responses!
