Please be sure you don’t just focus on one school. If you review threads from just after March 10th of this year, you will find several students who only applied to a small number of very selective schools, and were disappointed. Why such a strong focus on Exeter? Yes, it is a great school, but there are many others that are comparable, in terms of academic offerings and financial aid.

Have you taken the SSAT or PSAT yet? A good summer activity would be to spend some time studying for the test, and researching a variety of schools to come up with a list of choices.

And by the way, your being from Idaho is likely to help you out a bit, diversity wise.

Oh, I’m just curious on Exeter to post here because of the 18% acceptance rate from this year. I’m looking at others.
Here’s my current list of ones I’m looking at;
Exeter
St. Paul’s
Andover
Groton
Hotchkiss
Governor’s School
Middlesex
Miss Hall’s School
St. Andrew’s School
Putney School
Thatcher
Wasatch Academy

I’ve yet to take the SSAT or PSAT. I plan on taking it soon though. (my school wouldn’t allow me to take the PSAT this past year. For some reason they have fules against freshman testing on the PSAT, SAT and ACT.

I like Exeter because I can afford it. (Family income is less than $50,000 per year.) Same with Groton and St. Pauls.

So, at this point, without knowing SSAT and PSAT scores, does anyone think I have a chance?

WOW.
Are you applying to all those schools?
I only applied to 6 schools.
St. Pauls, Kent, Choate, Deerfield, St. Georges and Groton.
It was a lot of work. So I suggest shortening your list to 4-7 schools.
I got accepted to St. Pauls and Deerfield.
I was rejected at Choate and Kent.
I was waitlisted by Groton.

Well, not all of them. :)

Those are the ones I’m looking at currently. As I do more research I’ll narrow it down.

So does anyone know I have chance just yet?

You stats were better then mine…wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy better.
I got in to some schools and so should you. =)

What year of school are you for the year you were accepted?

Sorry, overly curious here.
I’m willing to read any info you’re willing to share!

Im class of 2012 at Deerfield Academy! lol

Oh ok! Thanks!

Oh and clarification on band, I’ve been in band for 6 years. I’ve played trumpet four of those years and tuba the other two.

Thats still impressive…
Im just your average nationally ranked pianist and tennis player. (Sigh) lol

Ya, I’m niether. No way athletic and gave up on piano in eighth grade. I couldn’t get into it anymore, brass instruments on the other hand, yep, love them. I’m not nationally ranked in anything. scowls in jealousy Lol :)

lol
In academics you beat me though. lol

Well, it’s also high school vs. middle school. High school there’s more of a need to suceed versus middle school. :)

Curiosity, what where your grades in middle school?

96 Average. In the little classes I took. lol
Its like your basics, math, english ect.

Oh ok.
Thanks.

My middle school grades weren’t overly good though. I had a C in Pre-Algebra, a B in Algebra, a B in Life Science, I had about one B a year in middle school except a few added in seventh grade due to personal issues again. Will that have any effect, does anyone know?

The schools I applied to asked for transcripts from the past 3 years.

Including the year you were applying? Like I’m applying sophomore year so I’ll send transcripts for sophomore, freshman and eighth? Or will I send transcripts for freshman, eighth and and seventh?

No, it didnt include your current grade althought they ask for your most recent report card which would be the fall one.
