Oh ok. Thanks! So half of Sophomore, Freshman, Eighth and Seventh.

My current one for admissions would be my progress since my school doesn’t do report cards until the end of first semester, after most applications are due.

oh ok.
Are you repeating?

Repeating what?

Sorry, I’m slightly tired so if things don’t make sense that’s why. :)

lol, ok.
Rpeating this upcoming school year at your school.

Exeter and Putney are two very different types of schools. I am not sure that a student who liked one would be happy at the other.

I’m still researching. I haven’t gone into depth on Putney yet. It was one of my “probably not’s but I’ll look into it anyways” schools.

LiloRox-I’m not sure I understand.

A lot of students decide to repeat a year when they apply to the top boarding schools (For example, instead of applying as a Junior, you would apply as a Sophomore) because of their rigorous academics.

Also, the chances of being accepted as a sophomore is probably higher than if you applied as an incoming junior, so you might want to consider repeating a year.

Hope I helped.

Oh ok. I’m not really sure I’d like to do that, although it’s not a bad idea. Thank you.

Bump!

Hey tubachick!!
I am so glad that I found this thread because I was EXACTLY where you are right now, a year ago. I applied for 11th grade this year to Exeter and got in (yay!), and was from Illionois. Already we’re almost the same person! haha, but anyway…Your stats look good…I don’t think you have to worry about your grades too much (I had all As both semesters except a B each time for Honors Chem) because they will obviously be able to tell the something was up that second semester, and you can explain that in the interview. I think that they would totally understand. I guess it’s just like they understood from my not-the-best chemistry grades that I wasn’t deemed to become a mad scientist when I grew up-and they’re good with that! The fact that you play the tuba, and have played it for that long is great! Playing an instrument (I think) should give you a slight upper-hand, because it shows commitment and all that good stuff. I don’t even play an instrument. Here, I’ll just give you my stats so this will all be easier to understand:
AP World History-A, A
Honors Geometry (we do algebra freshmen yr, then geo)-A,A
Honors Chemisty-B, B
French 3-A, A
Beginner’s Weights-A,A
CAD-A
Honors World Lit.-A,A

ECs
softball for 8 years
debate for 1
speech team for 4
and I volunteer a lot and like to read

I also really needed the FA as well and got it. As long as your family has less than 75K in income, then you get a free ride! So you should be good with that–that’s one of Exeter’s many wonderful attributes, and is something that Exeter has the most of. Therefore, if money happens to be your main concern, then Exeter or Andover would be great choices for you! (Though I’d personally choose Exeter over the latter
.)

haha…now that I lay that out, it definitely looks pathetic, but oh well! I think it was the interview and essays that really did it for me. The lady that I interviewed with was extremely nice and so I got to open up to her I guess, and she must have seen that “something” in me. Basically in my essays, I just layed it all out there. I poured my heart and soul into them, and really gave them a feeling that I was just a kid. A kid trying to get a nice boost up into the world in order to help it and everyone else. A voice to be heard. So here’s a big tip: let them know why you’re important. I know that everyone is important!..but I think you know what I mean. Anyway, good luck girly! And feel free to pm me or ask any questions that you wish!!
