Chances at Fordham University?

Hello, I was wondering if any of you could offer some insight onto whether I have a chance of getting into Fordham University.
I'm in the top 15% of my senior class. Rank: 70/490.
I attend a challenging private/catholic school where I take 4 years of Math, 4 of Science, 4 of English and 4 of History.
I'm involved in about 8 extracurricular activities including Band, Leaders Club, National Honor Society, Speakers Bureau, and the literary magazine of my school, Rennaisance.
Also, over the summer I did 100 hours of volunteer work at a nursing home.
But of course, there's one major problem.
I did not do well on my SAT's, to say the least, as opposed to basically everyone on here lol. I received a 1050 on the november SAT.
Is there still a chance for me to get into this university?
Also, if anyone has any other schools that they would like to recommend, I would greatly appreciate it. :)

If you can fully pay for fordham, retake get an 1150, and are catholic, write decent essays

your in

The thing is that I did retake it, and I only have a 1050. But yes, I am catholic and my counselor told me that I wrote a great essay. It's just the SAT score :(

you dont have to be catholic. there are students from different denominations attending, as a matter of fact, a dear friend of mine is hindu. so dont let your religious beliefs discourage you from applying.

Fordham: Slight Reach/Match

I got defered :(
Does that basically mean that I'm not getting in?

i got deferred with an 1160 and a 3.5...i had awsome ECS and recs

Yeah i got defered with a 1050 and a 3.6. Then again my SAT score isn't good. I did 200 hours of volunteer work over the summer but I guess that didn't shed much light on my SAT score. :(

yea, i am not too farmiliar with being deferred..is it like delaying the rejection?

Its hard to tell with fordham. I had a friend in high school who was very bright and got a 12 something on her SATs, awesome GPA, good ECs, and she got wait listed.

I am a transfer, did horribly on the SATs but didnt have to submit them since im a transfer, and I have a good GPA in college. I got accepted yesterday, but I probably wouldnt have straight from high school.

Fordham is getting more and more competitive each year.

Is Fairfield University like Fordham?

Its funny you should ask that. The girl I was talking about got wait listed at fordham, but was accepted to fairfield. She had a really hard time deciding what to do. She picked fairfiled, and THAT day, fordham took her off the waiting list. She has a very bad first year at fairfield and hated it. She wished she went to fordham. BUT, this year, she loves fairfield and is glad she picked it.

My other friend got accepted to both fairfield and fordham. she ended up going to fordham and loves it.

The two school have alot in common. they are conservative and catholic. Alot of "preppy" kids go there. If youre not into that, you probably wont like either school. But yes, they are similar. Alot of people apply to both schools.

So the type of student at Fairfield would be the "smart- preppy" type?

for those who got deferred, as i previously mentioned on this board, send them a letter saying you really want to go.. send them any new awards etc. maybe even an extra teacher rec.. call the school too (but dont hassle them) and ask about ur app status.. just do anything that shows u have alot of interest without being pushy.

what would i say if i called the school?

dgofpsggfmgfkg just checking post countr dklfskfdsfd

The best thing you can once you get deferred is send a letter saying that you will attend if accepted. Colleges love this because it shows interest and it increases their yield, which makes them more appealing to potential applicants.

Yep I was thinking of doing that and maybe explaining that my a bit-low SAT's are not a true representation of all the hard work I have done in my school and Boy Scouts. I was also thing of putting a movie quote in that says that intellignce is a gift.
