Hi guys, i’m currently going into senior year and I have started to really think about where I want to apply.
I want to know what my chances are to get in and any input and advice.
GPA: 3.4 unweighted, 4.3 weighted
Gender: M
Ethnicity: White
Top 10% in class
SAT: 1210
ACT: 25
Total of 9 AP course taken.
350 service hours
5 clubs (two of which i’m president of) + Cross Country for 3 years.
I’m not familiar with the new SAT scores, but your ACT score is a little low (bottom 25% for fall). Still, I’m guessing you’ll get in or at worst you’d be deferred to summer.
Yeah you’re probably gonna want to retake the ACT. Either that or apply for Summer C, instead of Fall 2017, which is less competitive so you have a smaller chance of being deferred.
You have a decent shot (especially for a summer admission) but make sure you do the ‘recommended’ stuff on their application - i.e., the resume, etc. The main thing I would be nervous about would be your SAT/ACT scores. Otherwise your profile looks solid. Also watch the application date; it was fairly early last year iirc.
Yeah, you’re going to want to work on that SAT and ACT. They aren’t terrible, of course, but even a 3 point bump in your ACT score would put you in a much comfortable score range.
However, DO NOT APPLY FOR JUST SUMMER! Apply for Fall. Worst case, you will be given acceptance for Summer, but you would be considered for both fall and summer. When you apply for summer you lose out on the “second chance” aspect because they won’t consider you for both semesters.
