Hello! I was wondering if anyone could take a guess at what my chances of getting into GW early decision are, and also if there is anything I can improve before I submit my application in November.

I will be a senior in the fall, and I currently attend a nationally ranked high school in the Lower Merion School District. I am a current IB Diploma student, and before I joined the program I was in a pre-IB program in Florida, so my weighted GPA is higher than usual. As of now it is a 4.64 un-weighted on a 5.0 scale. I also have on AP class under my belt. Overall, all of my high school courses have been the most challenging the school can offer.

-My SAT scores as of now are lower, a combined score of 1720 with Math= 590 Writing = 570 and Reading = 560. I am retaking next weekend, so I hope to improve a bit.
-My SAT II scores are also on the lower side, with the exception of Spanish. Spanish= 690 History= 510 Literature= 540
- My grades in high school when I was in Florida were almost straight A's, with a few B's on more challenging courses. They significantly changed when I moved to Pennsylvania because of a different grading system. A 90 is a B+ and a 92 is an A, so I have a larger amount of B+'s for my junior year. The standards of the school system are also proportionally higher than that of my school in Florida.
- IB requires copious amounts of community service, so I have volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters, the YMCA, The Franklin Institute, Feeding America, a student run club called GemsNOTGenocide which donated funds to a school in Darfur, and I am a member of NHS which regularly participates in community service activities. Also, I am working with a few classmates of mine on The Pencil Project. We will collect school supplies from local elementary schools and ship them to schools in Ghana, Ecuador, and Haiti. This summer while visiting family in Ecuador, I plan on doing service there, possibly with the same school the school supplies will be donated to, and the elderly.

I know GW is very big on showing interest in the school, and I have gone for a campus tour and will return in August to talk to an admissions counselor and possibly an interview.

Let me know if you need anything else, thanks!
