oh and I’ll add Amherst to that list too.

Good shot considering race and good grades/scores/english related ec’s.

reverse discrimination makes me laugh

You look really good especially for BC and Barnard. All the others are always tough, but everything excepting your SAT score (which isn’t bad by any means) is fantastic! Good luck

interesting
thanks for the chance

you seem to have a really good chance at a lot of those schools, especially if you could bring your SAT up a bit.
Columbia is probably a no, but the others you have a shot

While you have a decent shot at all of those places, your chances would be even better if you increased your SAT score.

I disagree with most of the respondents. I would like to see your SATII’s and AP test scores, but in general considering your URM status, and your impressive GPA, that a 2100 SAT score (SAT scores are often over emphasized on CC) will be more than adequate for any of the schools on your list. I think any adcom would pass you for the academic preparedness threshold.

IMO your problem is that your EC’s are underwhelming (no leadership, sports, basically just a few clubs which do not account for constructive time usage in HS). Even as an URM (and maybe especially for an URM who is forgiven SAT score points), they are looking for students that will “fit” the culture of the school and offer some unique qualities to contribute to the campus. IOn this front you are lacking.

Columbia
Brown
Dartmouth

^Reaches

Tufts
Amherst
Georgetown

^Low Reaches

Barnard
Boston College

^Matches

What’s the breakdown on your SAT score? Means a bit more if it isn’t skewed toward the writing component.
Also, is there any activity you do out of school (besides studying  ) that you haven’t mentioned, or some other demand on your time such as need to work at a job or family situation?

what grade are you in?

Georgetown -low reach
Columbia -mid reach
Barnard -match/in
Tufts -match/in
Brown -low reach
Dartmouth -low reach
Boston College -match/in

Best shot is at the non-Ivies, which you’ll likely get into. I think you have a great shot at Georgetown, Brown, and Dartmouth. You’ll get into at least one of them, and that’s me being a bit pessimistic. Columbia is insane and you have a harder shot there. If you’re applying to Barnard, I’d skip regular Columbia and go for another top Ivy, like Harvard (that happens to be my favorite bc they seem to like diversity the most).

Chance back (yeah it’s me again… you might have seen this on your other recent chance thread) http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1165818-chance-incoming-senior-fordham-nyu-barnard-ivies.html
