forgot to let u know my background...white male, jewish, middle class family...idk how much that means

right..."doesn't rank." This is nothing against you, but against schools that say they "don't rank." My school "doesn't rank," yet we have a valedictorian, salutatorian, and Cum Laude Society (which inducts the top decile junior year, then the second decile senior year). Funny, don't you think? Do you at least know your decile? Then it would be easier to understand your 4.0 (besides the fact that you have straight As). For example, if 20 other people in your class good have the same GPA, then exactly how good of a GPA do you have?

The average SAT is a 1380 (I overheard this in the admissions office ;) ). Take Math II- it's harder and looks better on a transcript. Take Math I as a safety. Do you hold any leadership positions within all the volunteer you do? Did you found any of the organizations for which you volunteer? You have a lot of volunteer, but nothing that stands out or that you seem to be really passionate about. I am sure you are passionate, its just that it doesn't seem like that on paper. I would suggest running to be the head of one of these organizations at your school for next your. Or if you volunteer through one of these groups outside of your school, start a group for one of those volunteer programs at your school. Do you understand? Because I think I am confusing myself. Starting the Clothing Drive is very good--do more like that.

Being from NY doesn't help, but being male does. Religion doesn't matter.

For recommendations, what would you like to study? It's hard to give recs without knowing your interests.

thanks. Im probably about top 10% in my class but i doubt top 5. I'm really into science but I'm not a big fan of the tech schools or mainly engineering schools. Maybe a good pre-med school. I also am interested in UVA and USC. I'm probably the most passionate about the "Adopt a Survivor" program and I have become really close to the person i "adopted". He has become like a grandfather to me.

USC California or Carolina? Have you looked at Harvey Mudd? or U Chicago? of course there is always Cal Tech, MIT, RPI, etc... Columbia, Stanford. Um...I am really racking my brain, especialy since I hate science (no offense). Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern, Johns Hopkins. That's all I can think of!

California...thanks for helping me out I'm going to look at some of those schools you mentioned.

no problem

does anyone else have any thoughts?
