I apologize for doing this as there are many of these threads but I am freaking out about my chances on transferring into business. I am currently a freshman and my grades are good except for my calc 2 grade.

My final grades for semester 1 will probably look like this:

Rhet 105: B+ or A-
History 141: A
Econ 103: A or A-
GS: A
Calc 2: D or D+ or C- (depending on my final).

I know that the college of business weighs on the 2nd semester gpa but it seems unless I get straight A's next semester I have no chance of getting in. Do I have a chance?

The GS course really means nothing in the calculation for transfer to business. You are currently headed for about a 3.2 or lower GPA and that is very low for transfer to business; moreover, any D in a math course is going to be a real factor against you and a C- will also not be good although not deadly. You are not out of it yet but you are definitely on the weak side with that potential math grade.

I am already currently at U of I. Drusba thanks for the reply. I guess I already knew my situation :(. I can still get the 3.6 if I get straight A’s in my second but I’m just not feeling great about it. Thanks anyways for your responses.

I’m not sure if you can still withdraw…I think you could but it would be on your transcript. Also I think there is always a curve for classes so don’t underestimate your grades. There are classes where I thought I had a B and I ended up with an A. For calc II I think there might be a small curve.

If you have bronsky (i think that’s his name) there is a small curve. I had him for 2 weeks and realized i had the option of taking elementary linear algebra.

hey rainyswish thanks for replying but unfortunately I i have bergvelt, worst math teacher in the world, and he does not curve : (. Im screwed for the final and probably screwed for business…
