*I would like to run at Macalester or Grinnell and am aiming for a 16:55 5K.
I work two jobs in the summer and part time in the winter
Don’t know if either of those last two things help.
All replies are welcome! Thank You!
You look good for all three schools, assuming you are in the top 10% (or at least 15%) of your class. Check Section C of the Common Data Set for each school to get a clearer picture. For example, at Grinnell: http://web.grinnell.edu/institutionalresearch/webdocs/GC_CDS_1314.pdf
The sports teams at Grinnell are walk-on, so I’m sure you can run with the team. Whether your times are good enough to qualify for the meets (I know nothing about running) is something to check with the coach. Why not get in touch and ask? (Or even better, visit if you can and talk to the coach in person.) The sports facilities are palatial, by the way.
Thank You! I visited Grinnell and met with the assistant Track Coach because the Head Coach was out of town. He wasnt sure about cross country times needed.
