Georgia Tech - high reach
UGA - reach
GSU - ? I want to say high match, but I’m not as familiar with admissions there.

What is so different about the Georgia State one? And is high reach a good thing kind of confused?

High = less likely. Low = more likely.

GSU is less selective than UGA is less selective than Tech. Most of the kids I know are heading for UGA or GT, so I don’t know all that much about admissions at State.

It works like this (working from most likely admitted to least likely admitted):

Safety/In (I’d be shocked if you don’t get in)
Low Match (you’ll get in)
Match (you should get in)
High Match (50/50 but probably in)
Low Reach (50/50 but probably not in)
Reach (you probably won’t get in)
High Reach (you’re not getting in)
No Chance (don’t bother applying)

With that said, just using ACT/GPA (that’s all you gave)

GT - High Reach
UGA - High Match
GSU - Low Match

GIT -Huge Reach
UGA-Match
GSU-Match

Dang Georgia Tech is like IVY league to get in with the stats to get in. What would have helped me get in?

3.7+ UWGPA and 30 ACT.

As it is you’re low on GPA and very low on ACT.

Edit: Actually, let me take back my comment about High Match for UGA. I originally read your ACT as a 27 composite.

With a 25 composite, you have a 2938 FI, which is low for UGA. So I’m moving UGA to low reach, and GSU to match. Tech is still a high reach.

If I had a 30 ACT would I have gotten in? I thought they only looked at English and Math and those are good.

Your ACT math converts to below average for Tech, and your ACT Reading converts to way below the bottom quartile (over 100 points below). Competitive for Tech is a 30 in Math (about 700 SAT) and a 30 Reading (about 650 SAT).

Regardless, Tech actually considers all scores now, as well as all three sections of the SAT. Historically it was just 2 sections of the SAT.

Dang. I guess I will be going to GSU. Why is Tech so hard to get into? If you can get into Tech you can get into a IVY League school.

Tech is one of the top 5 engineering schools in the country.

And you would need more than a 30 ACT to be competitive for the Ivy League.

You get my point, and you need to be really smart to get into Georgia Tech. What are the other top 4 enginnering schools? Is Mercer one?

Are you kidding? Mercer isn’t even in the Top 100.

The top 5 are MIT, GT, Stanford, UC-Berkeley, UIUC. Some people add Cal Tech and drop UIUC based on undergrad vs. grad programs.

what are my chances of getting in to GSU?
i have 3.2 GPA and 24 on ACT
HELP! i just want to know your thoughts
