to be honest, I think you need to either get your GPA up or your test scores up.

a 3.6 unweighted gpa is great. 3.6 weighted... is not so great. however, that can be offset by strong test scores. take a prep course over the summer or take the ACT or something.

also, if you apply ED, you may have a slightly better chance... but i think you're gonna have to raise either your gpa or SAT.

This is a top 20 HS in america and is in Maryland if it is any help.

I agree strongly Serendipity, increase those test scores buddy 1300+ for GWU. looking at the graph will give you a chance. Those GPAs are W. You can also see it looks kinda random seeing that really high students are denied while others much lower are accepted. ECs may play a big role at GW and you seem to have it but a higher SAT can only help.

What is your area of interest so maybe we can help you find a saftey to GW, GW looks like a slight reach but if you pull up that SAT it should be a match.

Oh and about extracurriculars -- I'm not trying to be picky, but I worked at GW's admissions office for two years, and I think it would help your application a lot if you pursue leadership positions in the fall of your senior year.

Everyone has extracurriculars; you need to stand out with leadership positions to show that you are not just joining clubs for the sake fo joining them. Something that kind of concerns me about your list of extracurriculars is that I can't tell at all what you are passionate about. Do you care a lot about sports? Music? Volunteering? Pick one or two things and really focus on them. Build a "package" -- get recs that mention those activities, try to get some leadership positions in those activities, and write about it in your essay. With borderline stats, you really have to stand out in the personal/extracurricular area.

Also, if GW doesn't work out, you can always apply to AU and Catholic. You should be able to get into both of them. Good luck!
