Chances at GWU and American?

I know these threads are kind of annoying, but any insight would be really appreciated! I plan on applying to GWU ED, and American RD.

Caucasian female from NC
3.63 W GPA (not too good, I know)
Somewhat rigorous high school transcript (3 years of Latin, 4 years of German, one AP class and the vast majority honors classes)
Won a CBYX scholarship to study abroad in Germany last year.
28 on the ACT, am taking it again and hope to get a 30
I have an excellent teacher reccomendation from my German teacher, scored a 5 on the AP German exam and am currently serving as her intern.

ECS:
2 years varsity lacrosse
German Club
FCCLA
2+ years volunteering at a thrift shop that benefits animals
YMCA Youth Counselor
Working as tutor, and TA at a local preschool
Study Abroad?

I was planning on taking more AP classes Junior year to boost my GPA, but I wasn't able to because I was studying abroad. I wrote this on my application though, and my teacher supported this on her reference. I want to study German and International Relations. Thanks everyone!

I think you’ll get into GWU. Had a friend with very similar stats(only a 27 on ACT) and she got in

American is more of a reach, but def plausible

Thanks, GWU is my first choice anyways. I thought American had a higher acceptance rate though? Thanks again (:

Agree with rocket6louise. (Probably low reach or high match for American.) Any leadership positions in your ECs? Definitely good stuff for your intended major though.

If you don’t mind, [chance me](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/794886-chances-nyu-u-chicago-case-western-rochester.html).

American is NOT more of a reach than GW. They do have a higher aceptance rate.
American, almost 53% accepted, GW, 37%.

That’s what I was thinking, barbara. Out of curiosity, why aren’t you applying to UNC - Chapel Hill?

I would love to go to Chapel Hill but I know I wouldn’t get in. The competition is fierce for students from Raleigh, as that’s where the most students apply from and the best schools are (besides maybe Charlotte.) At least that’s what my teachers have been saying since sophomore year lol… Thanks everyone (:

Also, Barbara or Techy…do you think I have a shot at either?

Yes, a shot at GW, and a higher shot at American. Apply!

Okay thanks! Anyone else?

I can’t see any reason why you’d be rejected from American. GW on the other hand is more competitive, I think ED will help. I also think getting a 30-31 on the ACT will help you immensely. The GPA is solid – as long as you are in the top quarter of your HS class.

Very good chances at American. Best of luck!
