I plan to major in economics in college.

I only know NYU and JHU… but I’d say

NYU - Accept
JHU - Waitlist/Reject

boost ur SATs and id say ur in at most of those. GL!

Hey.

I think you have a very, very good shot at NYU, GW, and American. I got in to all three, and my gpa was lower than yours. Only thing you should consider is boosting your SAT a little (you can still get in with your scores now, but better safe than sorry). Consider taking the ACT, alot of students tend to do much better on the ACT.
I got denied @ BC, but you have a higher gpa so I think you still have a good chance.
I’m not too familiars with the others though. Just make sure you make your college essay(s) really good to stand out. I’m convinced that my essays were what got me in.

As of today my sat scores are 690 in CR, 690 in Math, and 650 Writing. Does that change my chances?

GWU - You’ll get it in
NYU quite likely, though for NYU it might be the Liberal Studies Program, not straight College of Arts & Science, but you’ll be an NYU grad anyway so that won’t matter.

For JHU - quite possible but not definite

yeah i think you’ll get into both. congrats on the SAT boost :D

Now, I am considering U of Chicago and maybe Georgetown U. I’m not sure about either.

both great schools, and your minority status will definitely help you at both. if you really want to shoot for the top schools though, you could raise your SATs even more (700s in each).

Honestly, you have a very good chance at all those colleges you listed (although I only have personal experience with NYU), as long as your essays and rec letters are fantastic. Like many people on this thread, I recommend that you retake the SATs. You will need to raise your SAT to at least 700 in each section, then you are good to go! :)

Your ecs are lacking. Also the rigor of your classes is questionable. I don’t want to sound racist, but this is true, being African American will help you a lot.

George Washington - In
NYU - Waitlist
Rutgers - In
American - In
Johns Hopkins - Reject
Boston College - Reject

GWU- Good chance
NYU- Good chance
Rutgers- Likely in.
American- In.
John Hopkins- Chance, but less likely.
Boston College- Maybe…

You’ll need great essays and recommendations, though. Keep working on the test scores. Your grades are good, and you have a nice list of activities. Just find a way to exemplify how to stand out, compared to tens of thousands of applications. Enjoy getting your acceptance letters in the mail.

I think you will get into Rutgers and with the NJSTARS program serious financial discount. Rutgers IMHO typically takes the top 20% of each NJ High school class
