interview went well, my teacher rec's were good and my english teacher said my essay was on of the best she's ever seen. - not sure if this all helps

i also applied to Yale, Columbia, Swarthmore, Pomona and NYU (all regular decision)

since im already asking, what are my chances for those colleges I just listed??

Harvard and Yale might happen, Columbia, Swat and Pomona you have a good shot (my guess is 1-2 out of the three). NYU is a lock. My only advice would have been to hedge your bets a little more (by applying to Brown, Dartmouth, Penn, etc) but its too late now...

I go to a Public high school in Miami, FL and am truly disadvantaged (financially that is).

none of my parents went to college, ill be the first and yeah they are divorced and dont speak english, go figure (im such a sterotype). funny enough i dont look hispanic - i look white.

Harvard is very notorius for it's affirmative action policies and there is no reason why you shouldn't have been offered admission.

I'm Hispanic too and with very similar stats. I guess this is the end for me since I'm an RDer. Good luck though, deferrees have a way better chance than the 5.7% admit rate for regular applicants.

Harvard gets many URM candidates with very high scores. Mzlover3, you insult URMs by assuming their scores are well below average. Phoenix, your chances are probably about what any other RD candidate's is.

also keep in mind that (i think; read it somewhere) this year's minority applicants shot up at harvard; same with those who are financially disadvantaged, so you're going against people who are in the same situations, and are prolly as qualified. good luck, man! keep us posted
