from what i know, Harvard never offers full financial aid..
unless you take a loan, or unless you're sure you can afford it, dont apply to harvard
(this is just my opinion, you are free to do whatever you want)

Definitely apply to all those schools. I don't remember if it was Harvard or another Ivy, but I think they said no tution for under $40,000 income. Whether or not I remember correctly, schools like Harvard give the best financial aid.

hooks r amazing. you will have no problem getting into those schools

His ecs are terribly weak. He cant just apply based on grades alone.

How are his ECs weak? He founded a club (not a common one, either) and is its president, and he's done well in math competitions (which I'd count as ECs even though he only put them under Awards). If he's committed to those, I wouldn't call them weak. Then, of course, there are the other ECs.

My guess is it depends on your essays. good luck.

I think you've got great chances!! Although I'm not a qualified critique or anything, I think You've definetely defined yourself in the areas EC's, grades, and everything else! Oh yeah, and definetely apply to Harvard....no one should be barred from an education just because of money or their finanacial situation. If you wanted to bring up your family situation, my best guess is use either your essay or submit an additional supplement ...it's found on "Harvard Supplement Side 4" in the undergraduate application. In this section, you're free to tell the admissions committee " unusual circumstances in your life" or anything close to that!
Good luck!
