Well, obviously your grades aren’t Harvard material, but your SATs are stellar, and your situation, if you include that in your “family circumstances” section, could probably help.

I’d say go for it.

@inNeedOfPencils - How can I improve my chances … Will a great essay and a proper explanation of my family circumstances … help …

How can I show Harvard that I have the potential but due to adverse conditions I couldn’t perform that well in my High School …

Past mistakes shouldn’t ruin ones future …Isn’t it … How to tell this to the Harvard Admission commitee

Even my School teacher’s are ready to testify that … I was one of the brightest boys of my school …only that I didn’t get a proper environment to study … and I lost interest in my studies due to my ever increasing family problems…

your GPA will really sting you in your situation. I had a very similar situation to your’s (family’s company went down around 10th grade, struggling a lot with a lot of family issues and such), but I still maintained mostly A’s since I knew that I needed to do well. But, I still think you should apply, since you definitely show a lot of potential. Make sure to portray yourself well, and if you have any other questions, feel free to private message me (:

But … I was checking some other college websites … and I find that my GPA won’t be that bad … because 75% and above from India is equivalent to A in USA ( As per SUNY - Buffalo, NCAA International Students admission guidelines, University of Illinois, University of Northern Iowa, Purdue University… and few more )

I wonder how many elite colleges are you applying to. But, you have a higher chance of getting lucky =)
