Chances at high SUNYs and some others...

I'm a junior who is probably getting a bit ahead of herself, but is freaking out that she's already damaged her future beyond repair and will end up at a community college. So I'm hoping that someone will either be able to put my mind at ease or put me in my place. A lot of my stats are projected/anticipatory, but I pretty much know where I want to be by my senior year.

Chances for Binghamton (first choice!), Genesseo, and Albany, if possible. Vassar, Lafayette, Gettysburg, NYU, as well. And is there any kind of virtual shot at a low ivy? Cornell, perhaps?

Thanks in advance!

Caucasion female, only child of a single parent household, will probably require (and receive) financial aid. Fairly small, moderately competitive public high school in Nassau County, NY. Will apply EA for some schools, first and foremost Bing.

GPA:
UW: 91
W: Probably 94ish.
My freshman year my grades went down because of some personal issues. I've been working to get them back up ever since. BY THE END OF MY JUNIOR YEAR, I'LL PROBABLY BE WEIGHTED AROUND 96. Higher by the end of my senior year.
Rank: 50ish/200 Also working to bump that up, but that will go up fairly quickly with the GPA. I should be around 25 by the time apps have to go out.

SAT/ACT: Haven't taken them yet, but if my SAT is on par with my PSAT and my SAT Diagnostic grades, I should be around 1900-2000.

No SAT II's as of right now. Should I be taking them?

AP's:
-Sophomore- Euro (3 - I know, terrible, but it was an unusually bad class for me)
-Junior- Currently taking APUSH, Psych, English Language, Physics B - Expecting 5s and 4s.
-Senior- Will take Government, English Lit, Bio, Italian, Calc. BC,
So, I'll hopefully be graduating with 10 AP's.
All other classes are acclerated (our equivalent of honors).

EC's:
[In-schoo] Student Peer Organization, Student Council, Model UN, Newspaper (section editor), Literary magazine (co-editor in chief), Physics Club (VP), Tutor. Varsity Badminton and Varsity Tennis. I'm hoping for NHS later this year.
[Out-of-school] Hospital volunteer, young Republicans, religion teacher, part-time work at a Neurosurgeon's office, and I've had articles published in a few local publications and have won a few contests for my writing.

Summers: I've done CTY for three years. Before that, it was another g&t summer program that I probably won't mention. For next summer, I'm looking into either the Brown SSP or People to People. I'll probably end up at Brown, as People to People might not look as good on an application. I've also worked for the past two summers in that neurosurgeon's office that I mentioned above.

Awards: Nothing major, yet. A couple of departmental awards at school, several local writing awards, and a local science fair. I'm hoping and praying for National Merit.

My interests are in medicine, politics, and writing, and I hope I've demonstrated that in my EC's. I'm not sure what i'd like to major in, and I'll probably end up doubling somewhere. I'll probably go into college undeclared. Again, my grades were VERY low in my freshman year (I almost failed math, and I'm afraid it's going to hurt me on the medicine front, but I'm hoping that if I apply undeclared, they won't put too much focus on it.) And I'm hoping, that as a writer, I can work my way around my low grades with my essay.

never to early to start they say. You will get into any suny school you apply to and have a chance at a "lower Ivy". i dont really think that makes sense because ivies are all so highly prestigous and more people think they have a chance at the so-called lower ones so it ends up being just as difficult.

Super- You're right, it really doesn't make any sense. Still, I think I'd have a better shot (not by much, but probably 4% as compared to 1%) of getting into Cornell/Columbia, etc., than HYP.

Thanks for your input.

Anyone else? Please?

Work hard this year and try to get very involved (or just stayed involved!!!) in you E.C. activities, possibly run for some more leadership, you have some good ones but the more, the more you stand out I believe!
Gettysburg-match
Binghamton-high match
Genesseo-not sure, this is the one known as the "honors" college right? I'd say high match/slight slight reach if it is.
Albany-match
Vassar-reach but if you work this year, you can possibly do it :)
Lafayette-match, good chance
NYU- match
Also, for those colleges (except for Vassar I believe, and Cornell you don't need SAT 2s but i'd advice you to take them in the areas of your strength, I mean, why not?)

Thanks for that! Really? Match for NYU? Wow. I figured I'd have the toughest time there, but I do have a small legacy that I forgot to mention... I'd be more inclined to get into the med school with the resources I have, but my mom did undergrad there, so we'll see.

As far as EC's go, I'm trying to start up a political society at my school, and I'll probably be running for student government office at the end of this year. Hopefully that can help me out. I've also been talking to a family friend who is a surgeon who can get me an internship position in the surgical department at one of his hospitals. It might be tough to manage with schoolwork, but it really seems like fun and I just might take it. And I neglected to mention some science research work I did forever ago because it was... a long, long time ago. I wasn't sure if I'd put it on an app, but the lab told me that I could cite it as an EC, so I'll think about it... I'm also going to be doing the Brown SSP this coming summer, I think.

I'm also thinking about taking SAT II's in Bio, English, and Italian.

So, hopefully that can bump me up a little in the grand scheme of things. Anyone have any more suggestions?

CollegeData.com said that I was a good bet for Columbia. HAHA! I guess it's worth the application fee.
