<p>Work hard on your application and write a great essay. Show them that you are sincerely interested in Hofstra. I think you have a good shot at getting in.</p>
<p>It's a tossup, but go for it. Hofstra's been working really hard to raise their academic profile over the last couplel of years, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't apply. My son is there and loves the University; he doesn't like the surrounding Long Islander's that much, but that's a different story.</p>

Checking with CollegeBoard.COM, I looked for the SAT/ACT score for the middle 50% (second and third quartiles) of accepted students from last year : </p>
<p>Basically, this means that the 25th percentile had a two way combined SAT score of 1080. Your best two-way SATs of 820 and 850 are substantially below this mark. Honestly, it is not likely that the admissions office would allow you to enter the school with those scores, but you might want to call the University to discuss your prospects directly.</p>
