Hi, I know there are tons of posts just like this, and I'm sure everyone is getting sick of them, but I would like some input into what my chances of getting into the Honors Program at Northeastern are. It's my top choice, and I'm really interested in going there. I want to major in Journalism.

GPA/COURSE LOAD: Weighted, it's about a 4.0. By the time I graduate I'll have taken 8 APs, and most of my other classes are advanced. I get all As and Bs.
PSAT: I'm either going to be a Commended Student, or a National Merit Finalist. I'll find out which in Sept.
SAT: Reading: 740 Math: 680 Writing: 640
ACT: 30
EXTRACURRICULARS: Editor-in-chief of newspaper/yearbook/magazine for junior and senior year. National Honor Society. Loads of other clubs (spanish club, national english honor society, etc.)

Thanks for any responses, good or bad!

your SAT and GPA is hovering around 75th percentile. As for honors it will be tough to say I had a slightly higher SAT’s than you and slightly lower GPA and did not get honors. It also depends on what college you’re applying to. Id say average chance but if you do EA im sure your chances should increase. good luck!

I had a 4.0 GPA and a rigorous courseload, but less APs. I’m not a commended student or national merit scholar, and wasn’t even NHS at my school. I did one sport and two activities (one is community service-they like that) and had a 630, 670 math, and 600 writing.

I was not accepted into the honors program, but asked about it hoping to get into the new dorms. They said I can appeal and send in additional documentation but didn’t get to because of the tight deadline.

They sent me an e-mail a few weeks later saying I got in to the Honors program. The point is that I had lesser stats in all categories and was on the bubble. I sent in no additional docs but got in, assuming because of my enthusiasm to get in. So I’m confident you’ll get in.

It very much depends on which college. As an engineering student, you probably wouldn’t, but in CAS you’d stand a chance.

As an edit: I am in the 6 year Pharmacy program
