Chances at Hotchkiss, Berkshire, Taft, or Deerfield

I want to apply to Hotchkiss, Berkshire, Deerfield, Taft, and Kent for my junior year.
I've made high honors since the sixth grade with nearly straight A's. I'm in the top 10% of my class.

I play varsity basketball and golf for my high school.

I am in student government, PATHways (community service group), and book club

I was just wondering what my chances would be applying as a day student to Hotchkiss, Berkshire, and Kent or applying to Deerfield or Taft as a boarder?

Are my chances of getting in less likely because I would be applying as a junior?

P.S. - I need full financial aid

If anyone could get me some kind of guidance that would be great!!

Hi KittyKat1, I’m a current junior at Hotchkiss and just like you I applied for junior year admissions. From what i’ve heard, its really hard to get in; consequently, you have to prove to these schools especially Hotchkiss and Deerfield that you deserve to be in their school. ESSAYS, ESSAYS, ESSAYS! Put your heart into your essays and convey to the admission’s committee that you deserve to be a student at their school. PM me with any personal questions and I’ll be glad to answer them.

Any standardized test scores (SAT, ACT or SSAT) that you would like to share ?

bearcat44: Thank you so much! I’m just starting the applications so that is very helpful to know. I visited Hotchkiss about a month ago and it was gorgeous. I live in the area so I would be a day student. I know that there are not many day students at Hotchkiss, so do they fit in like boarders?

Axelrod: I took the SSAT and PSAT, but I haven’t gotten my PSAT scores yet and my SSAT scores were not the greatest. They were 64 percentile. DO you know how much that will effect me getting in?

The day students are actually really indistinguishable; sometimes, if they want, they can stay on campus if they’re too tired to go home. No one really notices the difference and that’s a trait that’s applicable to wealthy v. no wealthy students. No one here discriminates of singles out anyone for any particular reason (unless they’re being jerks). I’m glad you like the campus. Plus, if there is a party on campus you can stay on campus  lol

Okay, just I know that at some schools boarders and day students are very separate socially. And another one of my questions if money divided students, so thank you for answering that. You said that you applied as a junior, what kind of classes/grades had you gotten before at your other school? Also what kind of classes are you taking this year. I currently go to a public school and I’m afraid that I won’t be able to keep up with the academics even though I’m a good student now.
