Any shot at:

Columbia (ED)

Harvard

Yale

MIT

Princeton

Stanford

Duke

Cornell

UChicago

Brown

Dartmouth

Penn

Caltech

Johns Hopkins

Northwestern

Any schools with my stats/majors you think would fit me?

Intended majors: Civil Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, History (w/ Pre Law)

Also applying to UF, Stetson (guaranteed admission), Miami, and Alabama

I know you’re going to retake the SAT and ACT, but with your current scores and the rest of your profile, your chances are as following (in my humble opinion):

High reaches:
Harvard
Yale
Stanford
MIT
Princeton
Columbia ED
Caltech

Mid reaches:
UChicago
UPenn
Brown
Dartmouth

Low reaches:
Cornell
Duke
Johns Hopkins
Northwestern

I wouldn’t recommend applying anywhere ED; use first semester senior year grades to bump up your GPA. Also, shoot for 2150+ on the SAT and/or 34+ on the ACT.

Good luck! :)

Chance me as well?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1533620-chance-me-princeton-wharton-upenn-dartmouth-cornell-harvard-mit.html</a></p>

Here are my thoughts as to your standings. SAT could use a little help but I have no doubt you have the capability to do way better. I got in the 2000s myself the first time and moved it up to a 2280. From mostly like to get in to least likely (no one can guarantee anything and work on your essays as well etc):

1.Northwestern
2. Johns Hopkins
3. Cornell
4. Brown
5. Dartmouth
6. UChicago (got really competitive this year)
7. Penn (CAS)
I don’t think Caltech, Harvard, and Yale are anything less than a reach. But you have a strong profile and if you bring the SAT up I think you’re game for atleast 75% of your schools.

Thanks for the input :D! Just so I understand correctly, those are my chances (in your opinion) as of now, or if I raise my test scores?

I think both in general. I think you’re a pretty good applicant, just try to do at those essays. I gotta say though, unless you are URM it is difficult to get into those schools with a 2040.

Oh, I definitely know that lol. I was sick the day of the SAT and I had to drive about an hour and a half to get to the school (sucks living on an island sometimes XD) so that was definitely not my best. I’m hoping for at least a 2200 when I take it again. BTW Timberwolf, chanced you. Jesus you have an impressive resume!!!

Your SAT score needs to be at least a 2100 to even be considered HYPSM. But, your grades are awesome. For most schools, I think you have a pretty good chance. The Ivy’s are reach though (as they are for anyone).

Bumppp Bump :P

Work on act and sat)

I think you have a good shot at Columbia ED if you get that SAT up to 2250+

i think the first 6 are high reach, and the rest are mid reach

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1533018-chance-me-please-i-chance-back.html</a> if you could :D

your grades are fine; the class rank is more important and you are high enough so it wont matter a lot (I think)
not gonna comment on SAT because you can retake that and idk how you will do anyways :P

problem is, a lot of people applying to those school (esp. higher-end Ivies) have credentials of that caliber and with only school-related clubs it’s not easy to stand out in the national pool.

Columbia (ED) - low reach

Harvard - reach

Yale - reach

MIT - reach

Princeton - reach

Stanford - reach

Duke - low-mid reach

Cornell - low reach

UChicago - reach

Brown - reach

Dartmouth - low reach

Penn - low reach

Caltech - reach

Johns Hopkins - low reach/high match

Northwestern - low reach/high match

still you have a decent chance at almost all the schools. good luck!

Definitely would recommend raising that GPA and test scores. The lack of leadership positions could hurt you, but great essays can make up for that.
I like your chances with just a slight increase in GPA/test scores at the schools like NW, Duke, Cornell, JH, and possibly Brown. A lot more work will need to be put in for the HYP gang.

Yeah definitely agree with test scores. SAT should be above 2200 this fall. However, my GPA is pretty much staying where it is (rising senior)

the ivies are all reaches considering people with above a 2300, 4.5, and awesome ECs still don’t get in. I’d say Columbia is your best shot, but be proud of your accomplishments. You’ll definitely get into a great school

Stats only get a foot in the door - and you have their attention. From here on out, I’d say it’s all about the essays. Separate yourself from the bunch.

Consider all of the schools here a reach, and you may just find your match.

You definitely have an impressive transcript and I would say Cornell, Hopkins, and Northwestern are low reach/near matches for you. I would put University of Chicago in the middle, along with Duke and Caltech. From my experiences with friends in my high school that already graduated, Columbia, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Brown, Dartmouth, and Penn are very unpredictable, despite your qualification. But all in all I wouldn’t stress because your bound to get into a few of them!

Like everybody else, the ivies are reaches. However, I do think you have a good shot at Columbia ED. That being said, the ivies are still very unpredictable. You should definitely apply ED to Columbia if that’s your first choice, don’t wait for regular to put in your senior grades (unless I’m mistaken, they’re going to want your senior grades ED as well). Work on your essays and definitely consider retaking the SAT/ACT (I personally find the SAT much easier, but thats my opinion. ACT: aim for 33/34. SAT: aim for 2200+). Good luck!

Your best shot at an Ivy would be Cornell ED, by far. Otherwise on your list remember JH prefers non-science majors (to fill their classes) so keep that in mind. BTW, a single example, Friend with 750/750/740 was rejected at all your choices this spring RD, except legacy school. If you are female you should use “female engineer” hook.

You may end up at one of your safeties UM (with merit), UF (assume in state), but the cost of education will be much lower. If you are female planning on engineering, you should emphasize that point. It is a hook.
