You have a decent chance depending on what school you apply to. I'd say your chances wouldn't be great for the engineering school, but liberal arts you have a reasonable chance. Some of that depends on the 1200-1300... I'd say you're probably in at any but the school of engineering. Are you a junior now or something?

As of now, I'd say your chances of getting in aren't too high. UIUC's avg SAT is around a 1250 and most people werein the top 10% of their class.... and these are in-state stats. So I'd say you need a 1400 or so with a higher GPA if you want to increase your chances.

Key factors are test score and class rank -- if high school doesn't rank they try to figure out where you would be and also rely more heavily on actual grades. Essays are also important particularly if you are borderline. Recommendations mean nothing -- you can submit them but likely to be ignored except for the required form that the school counselor needs to fill out.

Thank you!
I am apply for Engineering school,
or Liberal Arts..
what if your SAT is over 1300?
would it be still possible?
for out a state international student
who have been in the U.S only for 2 years (if matters)

If you are actually above 1300, your chances are better. Be aware of the following:

For engineering, choice of major can also make a difference. Computer science, computer and electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering get more applicants than other engineering majors and it is thus more difficult to be admitted if you choose one of those majors on the app.

UIUC has a "priority date," November 1. If it receives your completed app and necessary test score by that date, you will have, as the university itself decalres, an "advantage" over those who submit after that date.

Unless they are green card, international students are not considered for financial aid and must submit a statement that verifies ability to cover costs if admitted.

Thank You for replies
I am applying for ED by Nov 1.
probably Materials Science in Engineering...
anyone knows whether it is competitive?
or still considered as same as other engineering..
I heard bioengineering is the toughest..

I have a friend in Mat Sci. It is hard. It isn't the hardest but that isn't saying much. Good luck. Have you taken the ACT. If not try and raise you SAT stat.
