Hey everybody. Just figured i'd ask about my chances into IC's freshman entry level PT program. IC is my top school and im looking to play tennis and have talked to coach so i feel pretty set on going there next fall. I dont feel like ill have a problem getting into the college itself but the specific program i want, which is physical therapy. I checked admissions stats and Ithaca accepts a large number of students, something like 8k, with 1900 enrolling. But i talked to an admissions counselor and he said they only accept 85-100 students into the program, which is an insanely low percentage, although i dont know how many apply to the specific program. Below i have all my school stat. If anyone that got into a freshman level program wants to weigh in, that would be great.

Currently taking 6 IB classes (Hota hl, english hl, bio hl, ex phys sl, italian sl and TOK) and one AP class (Calc AB) and planning on recieveing diploma but i might drop it because i have way too much going on with my schedule.

We were at Ithaca yesterday. Our tour guide was a PT major and described himself as “really weak” in Chemistry and yet received Bs in the general and organic classes.

Your stats range around 75% of admitted students, but Ithaca does not require nor recommend sending SAT scores, unless you feel it helps your application.
They repeatedly mentioned that the strength of your transcript is what really matters.

Ithaca’s PT program is still strong and definitely a great choice for that field. Your GPA looks good. IC is test-optional, but your SAT probably will not hurt you. While the PT program is more competitive than the school as a whole, if it is your first choice then I would highly recommend applying ED.

Hey guys. Thanks for the replies.
To update, i sent in my application as early action just because i want to see the other offers my schools make.
I also forgot to add this earlier but i’m being recruited pretty heavily to play tennis there. I’ve visited and talked with both coaches and the team and they seem like they really want me to go there next fall because there’s a spot for me on the team.

Do you guys think that the admissions program will give the nod to athletes if they see they are wanted by the coaches at the school, even for a selective program like physical therapy?
