Chances at Ivies and MIT??

Hi, I'm only a sophmore in high school, so everything below can and will change. But here's what I have so far.
I am a caucasian female who lives in NC.

•GPA- 3.917 UW, 4.5 W (WILL go up)
•ACT- Projected to be around a 33
•SAT- Projected to be above 2200.
•Extra Curriculars (possible leadership positions in some, they don't give leadership to sophmores in school clubs):
And before you read my ec's I'd like to mention that I have a HUGE passion for Math/Sciences along with Music, especially choir/singing

I do plan on getting a job/internship this summer.
Many volunteer hours including tutoring unfortunate kids at my church.
*There may be more opportunities come my way, so I might take them

I'd also like to mention that I grew up in poverty with my mother who was unfortunately addicted to drugs until the age of 12, but luckily she is recovering! :) and my my father rescued me from the living situation.

I am taking all AP and honors classes Junior/Senior year. (I forgot to mention before!

Do you think I stand a chance with these stats?? If not, how can I improve my chances??? Thanks for reading! :)

I think you have a pretty good chance, but you never know with Ivies. It really is a crapshoot these days.
That being said, if you do achieve high test scores (don’t forget you’ll need subject tests as well),I think you’ll be set. Work to bring up that GPA and write really good essays. Your extracurriculars are solid, which is fantastic. Good luck!

Thanks for your insight!!! If I get my predicted GPA, I should have a 3.96 UW 4.8 W GPA. I also will be recieving SAT prep with both SAT I and II tests, which should help! So again, thanks!

Good EC’s. Hard to chance you w/o any actual scores. It’s a lot easier said than done to get those scores. That being said, if you get that GPA/test combo they’ll all be reachable. ED to your favorite.

I think that your GPA is solid - maybe go up a little but it looks great! Also, I think that you should aim for test scores that are a bit higher (34+ on the ACT or 2300+ on the SAT). Finally, you didn’t mention SAT subject tests - I assume that you’re planning on taking those. Just be sure to have two of three really solid scores (750+). Best of luck!

As long as you maintain solid extracurriculars and own up to your standardized testing expectations, I think you have a decent shot at some of the ivies and maybe MIT. However, you should have a respectable chance at non-ives that exclude Stanford and MIT, such as Northwestern, Georgetown, Duke, etc. (just something to think about). However, being that you’re a sophomore, just try to meet your goals. However, I can tell you that, if you do, you’ll get into a great top-tier school.

Hi! I think you are well on your way to have a pretty decent chance. I think your EC’s really show your passion for music, so be sure to emphasize that on your app. Also, make sure to live up to your projected test scores. And remember, it’s not only about stats but also about letting your personality shine through your essays. Good luck in the upcoming years!

Chance me back please?

Thanks for your insight!!! I will chance all of you that asked for one tomorrrow! :)

good extracurriculars and gpa but like others have stated, you need to get those scores before much chancing can be done lol. If you do achieve those scores, I think you stand a good chance at getting into the ivies, mostly low reaches for them!

NOBODY CAN EVER TELL YOU WHETHER OR NOT YOU CAN GET INTO HARVARD, YALE PRINCETON, STANFORD, COLUMBIA, AND TO A DEGREE, BROWN. OH OR UCHICAGO. they can tell you no or maybe that it all.

Thanks for all of your insight!

@missouriboy I know, but I just really needed help to see if I was on the right track. I don’t want to regret what I’ve done in high school later on when its not too late to fix it now since I’m only a sophmore.
