I like your username. lol.
Um I think you definitely have a shot at U Mich and Duke… I know people who had lower stats than you who got into Duke.

The Ivies are never definite, but one of my best friends got into Penn this year ED
with no really good hooks and an average GPA and average EC’s. Her SAT scores were about the same as yours.

I think you stand a shot at all of your schools, they may not all be matches but it never hurts to try and you seem to have a better shot than most considering all of your EC’s and your ethnicity

Chance Me!! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1356098-chance-average-rising-senior.html

Thanks!! Appreciate the input.

You have an okay chance for Stanford and Ivies (its a crap shot for everyone), but Duke is definitely a match if you improve your scores, IMO. As the other poster said, never hurts to try! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1356466-chance-me-ivies-eh.html Chance me please :)

^ No, duke is certainly not a match and every bit as competitive as the ivies and Stanford. GPA looks low, what percentile in the class do you think you lie? Or possibly first or second in the class?

You have some really good stats!!! I would definitely increase your SAT score. Work hard this summer, and try to get it above a 2300 beacuse trust me, it will help you out a lot! I would apply ED to Duke if you are willing to pay the full price because Duke isnt known for there financial aid. But its an amazing university. GOod luck:)http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1356559-chance-me-state-virginia-please-will-chance-back.html#post14548417

ok so you have a very low chance at stanford and duke, even if you are hispanic. Low SAT I and Sat IIs. Lowish GPA. Low number of APs. Very few awards (besides the russian essay, non are prestigious). ECs are all over the place, and it looks like you did them just for the resume.

Ivies, Duke, UMich Ross, Stanford, NYU Stern

Ivies- High reach… Most likely waitlist
Umich Ross - easy in if you demonstrate you can do it
NYU- Sure
Duke- Work a bit harder then you can get in
Stanford- High reach…Most likely waitlisted then accepted if accepted in the end.

@kiddo I think you are being a slightly harsh critic. Depending on the school the gpa might not be low at all, maybe the op is highly rated. Also, the two 700 subject tests are fine, and the SAT, although it never hurts to raise at all, it can be very very beneficial, isn’t that low either. It won’t keep the op out completely. I also object to outright believing that an ec is superficial simply because it seems “scattered” sometimes EC’s are really only refined to a specific activity that cant really be expressed anywhere else. If the op shows passion in the app itself, then there is no question over passion in them.

I appreciate all of the honest input. My school does not rank, and I think I can bring my SAT score to over 2300, I really do. I think my ECs are pretty good, considering they have a political and social activist root at them. Thanks guys, and I might apply ED, though I don’t know where.
