Hey guys, here are my stats:

=> i'm not japanese. i'm trilingual, but i haven't been taking a language at school. does that put me at a disadvantage?

i took the ACT but i'm not going to send in the score.

am i forgetting anything?

anyway, i haven't really narrowed down my college list yet to a final list:

Yale
MIT (maybe EA?)
UPenn (general, and Wharton)
WashU
Cornell
Duke
Rice
Northwestern
NYU (general, and Stern)
U of Michigan (general, and Ross)

oh and yeah, i'm pretty sure i wanna go into business.

your input very much appreciated, thanks!

Yale- low reach (its a reach for everyone, but you have as good a chance as anyone. Who knows...I've seen people at your caliber be rejected, not saying you will, but it happens. And that person did end up going to Harvard.)

MIT (maybe EA?)- low reach (its a reach for everyone, but you have as good a chance as anyone. If EA + a great deal of interest shown then I think you should be fine. Already such a strong focus on math and science so I would be surprised if you didn't get in)

UPenn (general, and Wharton)- general high match, Wharton low reach. Wharton is just so much more competitive

I'm assuming the three above are your top three? I'd be surprised if you didn't get into one

WashU- match, but watch out. Wash U is notorious for wanting to keep up yield rates so they might reject you because they assume you got in somewhere better.

Cornell- match. You should be in

Duke- high match

Rice- in

Northwestern- in

NYU Stern- in

U of Michigan Ross- in

thanks for the input!
yea, top three are first choices. depends on financials too though.

ill watch out for Washu, ive heard of the Tufts syndrome there, but hopefully I'll be fine since every year quite a few from my school get in to Washu.

i forgot to add AP but i havent gotten scores.

I wouldn't say you're definitely in Cornell (although you stand a good chance). The undergrad business program (AEM) is very highly regarded and difficult to gain admission to.

but is the undergrad business program at cornell like general business, or specifically just Hotel Management etc.? i was looking at collegeboard's list of majors that cornell has and only Hotel Management and such were under business for cornell.

I think that the Hotel Management school is Cornell's business program.

No, AEM is the undergrad business major, and it's in the college of agriculture and life sciences. Hotel management is more hospitality management than business.

gotcha.
thanks coolman123!

i think you have amazing stats and that you have a good shot in all the schools. however, most of the schools you listed are ivy league so it is a crapshoot. For UPenn, if you applied ED, then I think you could get in no problem. For UMich, did you want to do preferred admissions into Ross or just enter the university and then apply for business school as a freshman?
oh and for umich general, if you don't get in then I would be shocked. You shouldn't have a problem getting into NYU Stern, either.
chance me please?

thanks and good luck!

i think im taking out Yale (no undergrad business), and maybe Duke and Rice since they dont exactly have undergrad business programs. they just have some cert. programs attached to another major?

thanks, so i am trying to decide whether or not i should ED Wharton, or just apply rolling to UMich and EA MIT. advice anyone?

and yes, for UMich i wanted to do the Preferred Admissions thing to Ross.

it seems that you really want to do business, so ED Wharton may not be a bad idea, just be sure to apply for Financial Aid (if needed)!!

ED Wharton is extremely selective (i think of it as Yale or Stanford SCEA, and I'm sure the acceptance rates are similar).

Remember, the ED/EA pool is self-selective, and may prove to be of minimal benefit to you. However, if you're really set on business as your future career, I would say ED Wharton.

BTW: How many APs have you taken and what were your scores on them if you indeed took them? The lack of APs would definitely set off an alarm bell lol.

Any particular reason you're not applying to Harvard and Princeton? If you're interested in business, Applied Math-Econ at Harvard and Operations Research and Financial Engineering (ORFE) at Princeton offer excellent preparation.

I'm also wondering why you aren't going to apply for Harvard and Princeton, especially since Yale isn't known for Business (Yale's Econ department is famous, but I don't know if you'd be interested in that). Also, I noticed that many of your EC's are pointed at math and science, but there isn't much more you can do now to show your interest in business. On the other hand, your EC's are definitely HYP-caliber. Write good essays. I can't stress how important this is in making or breaking your application when distinguishing yourself from the other brilliant candidates.

LOL
Four Year University-Far Reach
Community College-Low Reach
Reading a colleague's chance thread on college confidential-Priceless

@azngod1992 - junior year i had 3 APs: stat, chem, and bio. took the AP tests but haven't gotten the scores. next year ill have APUSH, calc BC, physics, and english. does applying ED to wharton affect the amt of financial aid theyll give me?

@Weasel8488 and thevillageidio - yea i think ive dropped Yale, and i didnt consider applying to H+P since i know i probably won't get in so as to save myself from adding more colleges to the already lengthy list... :/ thanks.

@OMGITSOVER9000 - dude what are the chances. and you were browsing through the chances threads? nice. but its alright.. i didnt post anything you didnt already know, kEVO. oh and, thanks for the CHANCES.

Wow. You look like you could get into any college. Great GPA, SAT, and extracurriculars!

Yea i agree with AngryAsianMan. Amazing.

OP you're just as competitive at HP as at Wharton and MIT. Go ahead and apply.
