Chances at Ivies...?

I'm a junior right now, Class of 2006, my chances at these schools would be appreciated:

Big Reaches: Stanford, Yale, Duke, UPenn Wharton
Matches/Smaller Reaches: WashU, Rice, Berkeley, UChicago, Georgetown

Asian male attending a suburban public school
Unweighted GPA: 4.0 out of 4.0
Weighted GPA: 4.53
Basically, I've had all A's (we don't do percentages or A+/A-, just a letter grade) in all 5 semesters I've completed so far and will try to keep this up for the next 2. Taking 5 AP classes this year, 6 next year.

Old SATI: 740V 760M, 1500 composite (will be taking the March new SAT, aiming for around 2250)
SATIIs: 790 MathIIc, most likely taking Chem/Bio/US History soon
PSAT: 232, will most likely get National Merit Finalist
Taking ACT in April, aiming for around 34

AIME qualifier
Debate Team for 4 years, hope to win state awards next year
FBLA for 2 years, hope to win state awards this year and next
Student Government officer for 2 years
NHS for 2 years, maybe will become officer
National Spanish Honor Society, 2 years
Science Olympiad, 2 years
Science Knowledge Bowl, 2 years (regional awards, nothing better)
Piano State Competitor (9th grade only)
Have 250+ community service hours now; will have 300+ by graduation, but not really related to my future major

Recs/Essays will be solid but nothing spectacular, I think. Thanks

No I dont think so..try Community Level Colleges. good luck!

I don't think Duke is a BIG reach. Have you won anything on the piano?

Only various small regional awards. Been to state 3 times, but no luck at that level.

The thing is, I don't even know if I should put piano down as an EC. While I did devote a solid 7 years to it, I stopped playing after freshman year when I realized I didn't have the work ethic/talent to win any state-level award.

forgot to add something - I'm currently Class Rank #1, and expect to graduate in the top 5 if not valedictorian

Your stats are exceptional. All you have to worry about at the very top schools are your ECs. They're somewhat standard. However, I don't think any school is a "big reach" for you. Being from Kansas is a plus. You will likely get into most of the schools on your list. Keep in mind they can be unpredictable. You want to major in business?

Thanks FishS. My major is somewhat undecided, but if I had to decide tomorrow it would probably be Economics.

My school, despite being in Kansas, is one of the more competitive publics here - last year we sent 1 to Harvard, 1 to MIT, 1 to Berkeley, 1 to Cornell, 2 to Rice, etc. We have about 350 kids per graduating class.

Yeah, I know my ECs are mediocre if not subpar. I'm applying for TASP for this summer, and I'm planning to run for NHS president and Student Government vice president in May of this year. I'll also be prepping my heart out to qualify for a national-circuit debate tournament in the fall of senior year.

(lmao - it is a bad sign if, when i tried to type 'fall' above, it came out as 'fail')

...bump...

I'd say duke is a match. Stanford is very possible. Wharton is a reach (as it is for anyone), though I'd say the college at penn is a match.

Thanks for the feedback, hyp2010

waiting for another few pieces of feedback; then i'll let this thread die

..........

yes i agree with what people have said duke is more of a match. wharton is a slight reach and stanford is kinda a crapshooot for those that dont live in cali considering more than 50% of each class is from cali. i think u have a good list there

Thanks shrek2004, I appreciate the positive feedback.

Also, add Northwestern to the list...I've been looking at that school (visiting it this weekend, actually) and I'm really liking it
