Absolutely no chance at Yale or Brown. One in a million at Cornell, Duke, and Michigan. Reach for NYU, and a short reach for McGill.

Unless you have massive grade deflation at your school (like to the point where you are in the top 5% of your class) you really have little to no chance at most of these schools.

Bad gpa, horrible SATs... I'm sorry, but even if you have good extracurricular activities, your horrible GPA and test scores will keep you out of any good schools (ie all schools in your list)... I hope this thread is a joke

I'd say you have a chance at Michigan, Cornell, NYU, Duke, and can probably get McGill. Your SATs are low even for the non-ivies on that list and your predicted IB test scores are not outstanding (while very good none-the-less).
There are also a lot of other factors. The class rank definetly helps you but applying international is very hard without high standardized test scores because colleges do not have as much information to compare you with. I would take the ACTs if i were you. Also, do you have any connections with any of these schools?

not actually... one of my brothers went to Harvard though, and my mother went to Georgetown... as you can see im not the smartest in my family...
Moreover, a score of 1900 is not good for the US (according to what you say), however, in my country, very few people even take the SAT, and the ones that take it, are usually around my score .

You
ll definately have a chance with McGill since you
re doing IB, but all the other schools will be a reach.
Even if your SAT scores are the norm for your area/country, international admissions is competitive (and will become even more competitive in the next few years). You really need to increase your scores (atleast a 2000) if you want to have a decent shot at all your schools. Your SAT2 scores are decent so I`m sure with some work, you can pull your scores up.

Thank you japstudent12, i will register for SAT I again in October 2007 because i admit my SAT I Score is way below average for schools i like.
Supose i got 2000, do i have any chance at Cornell or NYU?

And apart from that, how can i improve my SAT score?.. +║specially writing

Average SAT scores:
Yale: 2225
Duke: 1465/1600 (no writing)
Brown: 2135
Cornell: 1370/1600 (no writing)
NYU: 1955
Michigan: 1335/1600 (no writing. if you are going to apply here, take the ACTs, more students take the ACTs than SATs here and Michigan Admissions really don't like the SATs, they won't even look at SATIIs)
McGill: 2050

well seeing that writing is your weak point, that should help you with cornell, duke and michigan

try taking the ACT's. nyu depends on what school your applying to, and michigan an mcgill you would have better chances at than the other schools you listed

What is with you people? Quit bashing that perfectly respectable SAT score. Yes, some of the schools he listed are reaches, but then again, they're reaches for anyone.
To the OP: What country are you from?

@ bazcat89, NO ONE said that those are bad SAT scores in and of themselves, but they are bad in comparison to the kinds of scores Ivys generally admit.

^^
Ditto, Bazcat, the scores are extremely respectable and would qualify the OP for 95-97% of all American/Canadian universities. It just happens to be that the OP is vying for that extra 3-5% that will sneeze or in Yale's case, LAUGH at that SAT score. Brutal honesty is a must, especially considering she's international.
