What do you all think? Let me know what schools (out of the Ivys, or even some higher class non-Ivys) I am capable of.

Thanks!

I think you have a great chance. although you have some b's in your freshman year, you've got awesome gpa!! don't worry! you will get in!!
what kind of colleges are you applying to?

I'm applying for these:
Columbia University
Harvard University
University of Miami
New York University
Boston University
University of Florida
Florida State University

And, in MY own opinion it is...
Reach: Columbia, Harvard
Match: UF, NYU, BU, UF
Mega-Safety: FSU

bump this up to the top

Hey! Another double reed player!!! Oboist right here!

You are looking very good for all your schools now. I can only speak from personal experience about Columbia (where I am headed). Columbia is making great strides in their music department, both in jazz and classical. That is an obvious plus, as well as the fact that New York City probably has the best music scene in the United States.

Your GPA is fine. I had a few B's (3.8 UW) and an SAT I of 1440 and got in ED. If you really want to go to Columbia, then apply there ED and I think you will stand an excellent chance. The academics are top-notch and you will find no better place to experience the real world than Columbia.

Best of luck to you. If you have any questions Private Message me and I will be happy to answer.

don't worry about your freshman grades, they're fine. since you have an upward trend, that is very very good. I took a 3.6 uw freshman gpa to harvard, yale, princeton and mit acceptances.... so its obvious that freshman year is not the biggest thing on your transcript. The rest of your transcript looks great, but your ECs seem a little too generic.. try to get more leadership positions or things that would distinguish you. I would say you have a good shot at the lower-middle ivies, and the upper ivies are reaches (as they are to everyone).

Do they let you take AP Physics C w/o any pre-reqs? Anyway, I think you have a great shot. Have you taken any of your SAT IIs yet?

Your freshman grades won't hurt you much. For Harvard/Columbia, I'd try most to improve your SAT (although it is acceptable).

You might want to look at Princeton, Stanford, & the UCs...they don't even consider freshman grades. Just a thought.

Might want to look at Tufts, Holy Cross and Colgate.

Good GPA. Average SAT. Average ECs (though 250+ community service hours may be considered a little bit above average).

Technically, they don't let you take AP Physics C without pre-reqs, but if you've had a strong enough background in math and sciences in the past, they'll let you take it.
