Recommendation Letters

My letters of rec should be strong. I’m recognized as one of the top leaders and students in the past several years in my school. I also have a letter of recommendation from my father’s doctor who attended Harvard Medical School.

Started a non-profit organization in high school geared toward advancing the social sciences in local high schools.

I plan to major in public policy studies, international relations, or poli sci.

Apply to all! You definitely have a shot. I have a really similar profile except different extracurriculars are different , white, but I started a non-profit too! I’ll be honest, chances at the ivy league aren’t super high, but you’re in the running. I’m applying to a few too with no hopes of actually getting in, but I’m going to give it my all!

Curious though…how are you captain of varisty for 4 years?? Never heard of a freshman as a varsity captain. That really doesn’t make sense at all. Sounds sus.

Good luck to you!

I could see you getting into a couple of the schools on your list but your UW GPA and class rank are pretty low. Your hook helps and your ECs are great though so apply

Is WashU on your list given that you mentioned St. Louis in your original post?

@justliviglife I attend a small private school. I have been competing at the varsity level since middle school as my original high school was k-12, I then transferred to a slightly bigger 3A high school in Louisiana. But, being a pitcher in softball and coming into my freshman year ranked first in the shot put for the state definitely helped solidify my leadership abilities with the upperclassmen.

Hard to evaluated without knowing which high school and without SAT II scores. A would apply to all of those thought as others said. The ECs are pretty good.

@18palmst Oh I see! That makes sense!
