Testing:

ACT - Best composite is 32 (including a 36 on science and an 11 on the essay), superscored composite 33.

SAT II - Taking Math II, Physics, and Chemistry in October. Expecting high scores on Math II and Chem, and an 'okay' score on Physics.

AP - 5 on Chemistry, 3 on Calc AB.

Classes:

I'm taking AP Calc BC (will improve the 3 on AB with the AB subscore this year) and AP Physics. Took AP Calc AB last year, as well as AP Chem.

"Unique" Classes: Took two computer music classes, where I learned how to use Reason/ProTools (two widely used production tools) where I wrote/created several songs. I also played drums for the school's Jazz Band (2 years).

Internships:

3-month internship at Parker Hannifin (big international motion control company if you aren't familiar - I designed rubbers for hydraulic hoses)

3-month internship at NASA (worked with an electrical engineer on designing/fixing/operating a data collection system for an apparatus that tests the efficiency of the compressor section of turbojet engines)

Each internship ended with a 25-minute presentation at a symposium.

Sports:

Threw discus and put shot in 9th grade, and very briefly in 11th, but I'm only counting 9th.

I do distance cycling outside of school (tried to start a club but i got shut down). Did a 100 mile ride - personal goal of mine.

EC's:

Captain of the debate team (I do Public Forum debate - lots of 1st place finishes, 2-time state competitor, competed at Glenn Brooks and Crestian national tourneys)

Head of technical theater club. I've done 3 productions so far (2 more this year). Managed stagehands and did all the lights and the sound.

Peer Tutoring (Chemistry and Math)

Amateur Radio Club

Lots of drumming outside of school. Played for my schools Pep Band.

Doing some volunteer work at the local food bank. I will have 60+ hours by graduation.

Rec's:

One from my Chem/Bio teacher, one from my English teacher. Both should be great. I will be getting one from my NASA mentor as well.

Thanks in advance. I'm also looking at UPenn, Northwestern, and Tufts (if you guys have any commentary on that.)

NHS (9, 10, 11, 12)
Cum Laude (11, 12)

Spent summers at Northwestern (summer after 9th grade), Northwestern again (summer after 10th grade) and Cornell (summer after 11th grade). The only actual college classes were at Cornell, the rest were enrichment. Got an A and an A+ at Cornell.

(If that affects anything)

Your ACT is in the middle for JHU. Your 4.3 W is excellent, and your internships look good. Get good SATIIs and write a nice essay, and you’re in for ED.

You’re academics are not top notch, but you’re applying ED. you def. have a good shot.
