Chances at Johns Hopkins and others

<p>Hello everybody,
I was jus wondering if the followings stats are match, reach, or safety for the following colleges:
Johns Hopkins
Boston College
Boston University
UPenn</p>

<p>Is it true that Johns Hopkins has the best bioedical program in the US? What are some other colleges with good biomedical programs in the East?</p>

<p>Status:
Male, currently a junior
I am Asian-American, living in the Dominican Republic (a caribbean island)
I bring in diverse cultures: Chinese, Dominican, American cultures. Thus I speak and read/write mandarin, cantonese, spanish, and english very fluently
I study in an international school and it is ranked as the best in this country.</p>

<p>Transcript:
GPA: out of 5.0 mine is 4.8... about a 98% average, always been A in HS. How much is that out of 4.0 anyway?
Rank: 1, if not 2, out of 90. Looking at Valedictorian.
Advanced courses:
AP Euro: 5
Ap Spanish Language: 5
AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Gov't (this year)
Will be taking: AP English Lang. AP US History AP Spanish Lit. AP Physics AP Calculus
Took Geometry in 9th and doubled up in science 10th and 11th.
SAT Scores: Not yet taken one...looking at the moment 650 math 550 english...will improve to 750 math and 650 english with time (Ive got one more year!)
SAT II: Ill take Spanish and Euro which should be no problem Also take Bio and Chem for more stuff
TOEFFL: Probably get highest score but its to compensate a rather low reading score on the SAT.
ACT: No idea. are they necessary?</p>

2nd best essay in Chinese school
Principals Award through all quarters of High School</p>

<p>International status don't help (esp. when asian), and neither do low projected sat scores (below 50% at JHU). JHU is the #1 school for Biomedical Engineering, and you must apply for that major, and it is tougher to get in than regular.</p>

<p>I see....so is Johns Hopkins social at all anyways?</p>

<p>I can't say anything yet for Hopkins and Upenn since your sat scores are only projected. BTW the new sat includes a writing section. So suppose you get 750 math and 650 math, you will still need to get a decent writing score, which I say should be at least 650 for those schools. </p>

<p>And since many international applicants to JHU and UPenn are outstanding students, you will be competing against them. Though, I think your diverse background makes you interesting. If you get good SAT scores and write great essays, you have a decent shot. Good luck.</p>
