Chances at Johns Hopkins EARLY DECISION!

Nah. With the exception of BME they don’t admit by major. I agree with laxfan04 that what you put down should make sense, but it seems to me like it’s not that big of a deal.

This year it was 39%. I think that most people would agree that it is going to continue a rather steep decline.

Why?

whoa i thought this thread was recent for second lol…jhu is quickly changing.
the ED rate is no longer more than 50%…it’s more like under 40%.
i have a lot of friends from prep schools…andover mainly and a few applied to JHU ED and were DENIED. shoe in my asz.
i have quite a few friends who i expected to be attending with me…and none are :frowning:
im sad to be going alone but it’s okay

Wow, way to pull a CC thread back from the dead!!!

ED discussion from 2005 is not going to help anyone in 2011. And the US News report linked above is two years behind. The ED applicant pool at Hopkins rose by 15% last year and the acceptance rate for ED was 39%. The best resource to learn about ED at Hopkins is this blog post by the Dean of Admissions:
[Hopkins Insider Early Decision: the Pros and Cons](http://blogs.hopkins-interactive.com/blog/2010/10/early-decision-the-pros-and-cons/)

What I took out of this thread:

-ED has a smaller pool than regular, not necessarily easier.
-ED rates have seen a sharp decline, more people are applying ED.
-ED has a few spots taken by athletes, which bring average scores down a little.
-ED is, of course, binding.
-ED and regular have a surplus of BME majors.

Daniel, do you chance prospective ED students?
You’d be much more qualified than other JHU hopefuls ;)

Oh, and when is that Johns Hopkins University Supplement for Fall ED 2012 going to be on the Common Application >:O

Admissions people on these forums are here to help answer difficult questions that prospective students may have regarding their school. They probably do not have time to “chance” individual students seeking reassurance of their chances at a specific school.

@osprey099 I was just making a point. I had a real question.
douses out your fire

I was making a point too. And there wanted any fire to douse in the first place.

@Precursor

Sorry but I do not respond to any chances discussions. I find them to be the most ridiculous part of CC and I actually shared my thoughts on the topic in a former blog post:
[Hopkins Insider The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of College Confidential](Taiga)

When the Common Application decides to post it. We have submitted our finalized supplement to them and now just wait for them to make it available. We hope by mid-August.

@AdmissionsDaniel
Thanks for the response!

@osprey099
I guess I misinterpreted your purpose. To be clear though, I don’t expect JHU to go over applications on CC, nor am I asking because I haven’t done the research already and related it to myself.
