Chances at Johns Hopkins

<p>Hopkins is my dream school ;_; I'm getting so worried right now as Junior year is coming to a close. Since everyone else is starting to ask for a quick chances evaluation, I felt that I should too, to keep me from getting a heart attack.</p>

<p>Asian Male
California Private School (only sent like 2 kids to Ivies in the past...6 years or so)
Major: Something related to biology (Pre-med). Minor in math.</p>

<p>UW GPA: 3.9 something. Weighted: 4.2.
SATI: 2180 (710 CR, 780 Math, 690 Writing)
ACT: 31 (29 English, 31 Math, 30 Reading, 35 Science)
SATII: 750 Chemistry, taking Biology and Math II this year.</p>

<p>ECs:</p>

<p>1) Science Bowl Team: 3 Years (will do again next year). Thing preventing us from going to Nationals: The winners of the Nationals, Mission San Jose.</p>

<p>2) Debate Team/JSA: 3 Years (will do again next year). I joined the team when it just started and I am often one of the leaders at the conventions for my school.</p>

<p>3) Robotics Club: 3 Years (will do again next year). I joined this team when it just started also. I was secretary for my Sophomore year and now I am President. We do volunteer work by encouraging engineering among elementary kids (teaching them how to work Lego's robots)</p>

<p>4) FIRST Robotics Competition: 1 Year (will do again next year). This was our first year in the competition. I am the co-leader of the programming team. I gained valuable experience from this program.</p>

<p>5) Piano: Played for 12 years. This year, I am taking the Advanced level test (hope I pass >_<).</p>

<p>6) Track: 3 Years (will do again next year). I am a thrower (Discus) and co-captain of the throwing team.</p>

<p>7) Cross Country: 2 years (will do next year). Nothing too special about this. I do this to stay in shape for track.</p>

<p>8) Leo's Club: 3 years (will do next year). Volunteering organization at school.</p>

<p>9) Marching Units: 4 years (will do again next year). Drill team member. We often win first place at competitions and parades.</p>

<p>10) Science Project (Original Research). I did a project on the nature of glass fracturing and won Grand Prize and First in Physical Science at my school fair. Entered in the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium but did not move on. Entering in the Bay Area Science Fair.</p>

<p>11) Class Treasurer. 2 years. Hopefully next year =].</p>

<p>Volunteering:
1) Volunteered at school Summer School program for elementary. 100 Hours.
2) Volunteered in China (summer '06). My aunt is a teacher at a school in China and I taught basic conversational English to them. I took them out (more like they took me out) and I taught them about American culture. 80 Hours.
3) Currently Volunteering at a nearby hospital.
4) Beginning a volunteering project with children and robotics. Should be about 100 hours.</p>

<p>Summers:
1) Spent Freshmen summer at a camp for Education Unlimited.
2) Spent Sophomore summer at COSMOS, hosted by the UC System. Learned about robotics.
3) Will spend Junior Year summer at Hopkins Pre-College program. I am taking Calculus I and Biological Molecules.</p>
