Chances at Kenyon?

Hey guys! I'm new to this site (just activated my account today), so please forgive me if I submit this the wrong way, or post it in the wrong place, but anyways. I'm a high school sophomore, and I've been looking into Kenyon college. I know I still have a few years, but everything there seems so interesting! Right now, it's my first choice. So my question is, do ya'll think I might get in? Since I'm only a sophomore, I haven't taken the SAT or ACT, but here's some stuff about me:

Academics:

Freshmen year:
Geometry Enriched (advanced)-- First semester: A. Second Semester: B+
Spanish III-- First semester: A+. Second Semester: A+
Advanced Standing English-- First Semester: A. Second Semester: A+
World Studies-- First Semester: A+. Second Semester: A+
Advanced Biology--First semester: A-. Second semester: A-.

Sophomore year (I haven't gotten my grades yet, seeing as it's only September):
Algebra II/Trig
Spanish IV
Advanced Standing English II
AP Modern European History
Advanced Standing Chemistry

So far, I've taken all the advanced/AP classes that have been available to me.

Extracurriculars/other achievements:

I'm not athletic, so I don't do sports, but:
--I'm actively involved in three clubs at my school: Octagon club (community service), Math club, and Spanish conversation club.
--I've done a bunch of theater work, except my recent schedule has not allowed any within the past year.
--I'm a published poet.
--I was chosen to speak at my 8th grade graduation.
--I've done a bunch of charity work and community service. Examples: painting a school that couldn't afford paint and painters, making "no-no's" for orphans in Africa who need surgery, planting flowers around the community... Also, I've knit hats for children who need chemo and dolls for children in Africa with AIDS and HIV. I've done a bunch more, but I can't think of it all right now, haha.
--I was in my school's choir for 4 years.
--I play a bit of guitar, bass guitar, bodhran (Irish drum), and harmonica. But just a bit--I'm still a beginner in all of them, haha(:

So, what do you guys think? Should I get more involved? I'm looking to start volunteering in a local children's hospital in January, and maybe at the local library, as well. But so far, do you guys think I'm on the right track to getting into Kenyon? Thanks so much! (:

First of all, it’s very hard to chance you without junior year grades or the SAT; also, CC can be addicting, so I recommend you come back here junior year. Seriously.

Secondly, you look like you’re in good shape to get into Kenyon even if it’s too early to tell; just keep your grades up. Just a note that Kenyon uses the Common Application (it’s basically one big application that many private colleges use), and on it, they ask for how many hours a week + how many weeks a year you spend on the extracurricular activities you list, so try to concentrate your efforts into a few causes. Also, nothing you did in middle school matters towards college.

You may or may not get the chance to take the PSAT this October (which is like the SAT minus the essay, and colleges don’t see your score unless you score super-high). If you do, just note that for sophomores, your score doesn’t matter at all–it’s junior year when it does matter. So no pressure; if your score is close to 200 on the PSAT after taking it this year, I recommend studying for it next year for a chance to be a National Merit Finalist (I think qualifying scores range from 200-220; varies per state). Otherwise, the PSAT is nothing to worry about at all.

Third of all, here[/url”>Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums]here is the Chances forum on CC, but most people giving others chances are high school students like you. They are not admissions officers; their opinion may very well be inaccurate, especially when you factor in personal circumstances such as your essay, recommendations, and background.

It’s great that you’re researching colleges so early, but enjoy high school before college stress caves you in.

Thanks for the advice! (:
