Chances at LAC & Big Universities

White girl from a pretty prestigious all girls catholic prep school in NY (my grades may look low, but it's really hard to get A's in my school). There are only 2 APs offered before senior year (APeuro&american) because our cirriculum is super tough as it is. I did terrible freshman year due to apathy, but now I'm doing really well. I'm great at essays and interviews, and I know I'll be getting fabulous rec's from my guidance counsler, my american teacher, chem teacher & art history teacher (my intended major).

I worked 40+ hours a week over the summer at a cell phone distributor, and I will be working again this summer. I work during the year at Weight Watchers (I also lost 60 lbs during sophmore year). I will continue working there as well. This summer I'm attending a Journalism Workshop at Stanford University, as well as traveling to Italy in April & June (I don't know if I can include that anywhere, but I plan on writing my college essay on my reaction to The Birth of Venus).

SAT: 1890 (610M 630V 650W 10essay) - mediocre!
SATII: Chem 630 (Taking Lit & MathI in June)
I'm retaking the SATs in Oct & taking the ACTs (hopefully doing better on those then I did on the SATs)

Overall, I will try to emphasize my determination despite my dismal start. Also, how much my maturity level has increased.

SCHOOLS
Wellesley (Early Decision - showing a ton of interest)
Pomona
Boston U
University of Delaware (My dad is a resident but I'm not sure if that'll help)
Fordham (legacy)
NYU (legacy)
Bryn Mawr
University of San Francisco

bump?????????

Pomona is quite a stretch, but the other ones seem reasonable.

Thanks. I really want to go to school in CA and Pomona is the only one I really fell in love with but I know I won't get in. Oh well.

BUmp?

Consider Scripps? It's a women's college in the same town as Pomona...

I looked into it, but it seems WAY too small. I'm going to look at it though when I'm in CA.

claremont mckenna is similar to pomona.

i heard pomona looks at amc? i don't know, that what my math teacher said.

whats amc?

claremont mckenna doesn't offer art history i believe.

BUMP!? What about SUNY Geneseo (In state)?

You can attend Scripps and take classes at any of the Claremont colleges.
I think Wellesley and CMC will be a stretch, too.
Bryn Mawr is a gem. What about Lewis and Clark, or Puget Sound?

I heard Bryn Mawr is amazing and everyone who goes there loves it.

Puget Sound & Lewis and Clark don't have an Art History major. However, I do like the idea of going to school in Washington State.

I'm just curious, but what does one do with an art history major?

I plan on majoring in art history undergrad and either going to law school or grad school for buisness. With a degree in art history, you can do many things. It's good prep for law school becuase you have to observe and open your mind - or at least that's what i've heard. Besides being the obvious art historian and teacher, you can be a curator, gallery owner, writer, auctioning, restoration. I plan on being an gallery owner/socialite. I can't lie.

bump!?????

Pitzer College is also part of the Claremont Colleges too and it looks like it's a match/safety for you.

Bump!!p!!!

buuuuuuump?

Bump!??????/
