I'm appying to:
Amherst
Bates
Bowdoin
Colby
UMass
Brandeis
Bard
Dartmouth

What are my chances at the universities listed?(I know Dartmouth is a bit of a reach, or more like a large one)

If it helps, I would like to go to a school that is academically strong but somewhat laid back; I.E I don't really want a Swarthmore-esque experience where it is just work-work-work. Could anyone give me feedback on whether these schools gel with that viewpoint, and if not, which schools would? Thanks.

Amherst- pretty big reach
Bates- match
Bowdoin- reach
Colby- match
UMass- very safe
Brandeis- match
Bard- high match
Dartmouth- reach

have you looked at Brown? another reach, but you always have a shot. you've got good stats, but some of these schools are very hard to get into. doesn't mean you shouldn't try- good luck!

Those SAT scores are going to hurt; there is way too much of a discrepancy between your CR and Math/Writing.

Amherst - big reach
Bates - match
Bowdoin - match
Colby -i have no idea where this school is lol
UMass - safety.. but depends on which umass.
Brandeis - low reach
Dartmouth - high reach.

work on those essays, i bet you if you put lots of thought in them, it will def help your chances :) good luck!

Yeah, I retook the SAT on November 5th, as my scores are from only one attempt(10/2006) which I did not study for. Honestly, I had a horrible workload junior year which has left me a bit burnt out, and not really in a studying mood for standardized tests. Irregardless, I feel that I improved on my retake and should move up 50-150 points to around 2130 to 2230.

Also, I didn't mention this but my primary interest is in economics and I am likely to major in it; are there any other schools that have good business+ economic programs which would be a match/close reach with my stats.
