Here's where I really need help.
My GPA for all 3 years is a 89.5 or 3.45.
But,** without Freshmen year,** my average becomes a 92, or 3.7.

**GPAs are unweighted! School does not weight GPAs.*

I'm wondering how significantly my GPA will harm me.

Everyone keeps on assuring me that I will get into Michigan next year but I would like an honest unbiased opinion on how likely I will be able to get into Michigan as my GPA is not above a 3.6 when 85% of its current students have a 3.6 GPA or higher.

I currently fall above the Middle 50th Percentile in terms of SAT:
50th - 1940–2190 (2200)
CR - 620–730 (750)
Math - 660–770 (800)
Writing - 630–730 (650)

I screwed up pretty badly Freshmen year, with an 82 and 83 GPA for the first two terms, but quickly rebounded with a /b]91.5 and 94.5** the successive terms, my GPA has an increasing trend, and I think I have a pretty good resume in terms of volunteer hours and Extra Curriculars, but my GPA is something that has been haunting me.

I'm especially worried because Michigan is going Common App next year, which will lead to more people applying.

Please note! THIS IS A MICHIGAN EARLY ADMISSION CHANCE! NOT ROSS!

If anyone knows of any other schools they think I should apply to, free free to post them as well!

I didn't get many replies in the general forum so I thought I'd decide to try here.

I don’t know what the average GPA at your school is, but I can tell you that 85% of the students at Michigan did not go to Stuyvesant. You can’t really compare your GPA to what the Michigan site says.

You’ll get into LSA at the very least. Apply preferred admit for Ross too, you might get in.

Our school doesn’t rank so I have no clue what the average GPA is in my school.

I know I’m in the top half at least.

Yeah, I was using the Stats Michigan posted on its website.

I’m don’t even know what I was doing Freshman year, it seems absolutely stupid now.

You’ll get into Michigan, lol.

Michigan changed the grading system for applications this year, but they still look at sophomore/junior years more than freshman year. They know it was an adjustment time so they don’t place as much weight on it. You’ll get into LSA for sure…and you never know maybe Ross PA too. If not you can apply your freshman year like I plan on doing.

I was planning on applying to Ross as a Freshman anyway.

I know that my stats are not good enough for Ross and I will still apply but I was very disappointed when I heard it was moving to Common App as it makes the process so much more competitive.

You’ll get into LSA, but Ross Preadmit ehhhhhhhhhh not so much. I would just wait till Freshman year and apply then, your chances for Pre admit are slim to none

Thanks.

Right now I’m just worried about getting into Michigan lols.

These are some random data points from my school, but as it doesn’t have any other info such as increasing trend or extracurriculars, they weren’t very much help to me.

Maybe they’ll be of help to someone else.

I like your chances. If you apply EA, I think you will have a very Merry Christmas!

I like your chances too given the school you’re coming from. Make sure you write an explanation about your freshman year performance and what you learned from it, and point out what you learned to do differently. While it’s true that anything under a 3.5 gets very very marginal for an admit, if you can make a compelling case and since your school is known for rigor you have a very decent shot I think.
