WOW

WOWOWOWOOW

i would love u have kids like u in MIT

haha umm is that a compliment or sarcasm

compliment

oh ok nice haha, why do you say that tho, and does that mean i have a chance or rather you would just get along with someone like me haha

It looks like you're really involved! Good for you! Try to get your scores up a little bit and you should have a decent chance. On your application, really emphasize the screenplay and music thing. I know that MIT has a section where you can submit something you've created. I'm sure the adcom will be impressed with that.

Good luck!

cool thanks portlander, is m.i.t's early admission binding?

Witzness, MIT offers EA (Early Action), which is neither single choice nor binding. (That is, you may apply early to other schools as well if you wish -- as long as they are not single-choice or binding early decision -- and if accepted EA at MIT you are still free to apply to other schools and consider other acceptances.)

hmm thats pretty interesting, so would you say that their EA gives any advantage in comparison to applyin there RD

The EA program tends to have higher admit rates than RD. This is probably due at least in part to the fact that people who are likely to apply EA are the ones who are serious about MIT and who have a strong enough profile to be admitted anyway.

So... applying EA may or may not give you an advantage. But if you're really interested, might as well apply EA and get it out of the way! :)

actually i think it might be slightly harder to get in EA (although if you consider deferred people who eventually get accepted, it might be slightly easier)

the benefit to EA is just to know sooner.

anyone know if MIT takes composite SAT scores or only scores from a single test administration??

This year's application requested scores from a single test administration.

any other opinion on chances haha

how much easier is it really if ur an underrepresented minority to get into MIT?

that's different, the sat scores. they used to allow composites. is it related to the new/old sat business?

as for the underrepresented minority question, i don't think you'll find a quantitative answer here, besides "not at all". if you're qualified, it's still a crapshoot, so who cares where you came from or what sex you are?

goddess, the app this year asked for one date, and that date's scores. It was for the old SAT, since the new one didn't exist yet. Couldn't tell you what the '10 app will ask for.

to the original poster: i think u have a great chance.

64% admission
36% rejection

most of the time, the 64% turns straight to 100%

ThomYorke: How did you get the 64% number?

umm, actually i don't think your chances are very good. sat score is too low nd your accomplishments are laundry list types. No offense, but you need more recognition in research and math. Oh well, you never know. I'm not trying to discourage you so...
