Chances at main campus?

I am a white male (with hispanic descent) and go to a private college prep school with a religious affiliation. My weighted cumulative GPA (the only thing my school will send to colleges) is a 3.0, and will be either a 3.1 or 3.2 when I apply.

(I also have the option to add another class, either AP Bio, College Chemistry, MedTec, or an elective such as accounting. Should I add another course and give up my one free period, or will it not affect me?)

School does not do a class rank

I really enjoyed the school. Do I have a good shot? In my school about 90% of applicants get in, and this includes kids with lower grades, but I only know they scores not their personal statements. I would also be willing to go to the summer session. Thanks for any help!

Update: I was just put into Spanish 3 Honors for next year. All but one of my classes is advanced (English).

what major are you trying to get into

@jkobrien14 i’m going to apply as undecided

I would say that your GPA is a little low but I’m sure you’ll get in. The 29 ACT is good so that will help.

Your GPA/test scores do not make your admission to UP likely.

Find your GPA/SAT score on this bubble chart (your ACT score is equivalent to about a 1950)…

http://admissions.psu.edu/info/counselors/bubble_chart.pdf

For DUS (undecided) your stats are probably alright. you’re on the lower end because of your GPA though.

Update: My GPA was put up today. I will be applying with a 3.1GPA. Will my grades senior year matter if I apply early, or will they only matter if I am borderline?

Get great grades preferably close to a 4.0 for your first semester of senior year. Apply as early as possible, they have more spots and PSU had rolling admissions when I applied back in the day. Additionally, the bubble chart is very inflated and your ACT should be good enough to gain you admission. PSU is purely a numbers based admissions game. Your GPA is low but your ACT should offset it, do not send in your SAT scores.

Apply in September, for DUS and Summer session. That GPA is very low (they typically want at least 3.4-3.5!)

Your senior grades do not matter. When I applied, the ladies there essentially told me senior year doesn’t matter at all as long as you graduate.

It’ll probably depend on the rest of the application pool for you, if youre willing to do summer session, your ACT score should get you into that.
