Chances at McDaniel College

I recently came into contact with the lacrosse coach at McDaniel and I'm supposed to go out for an official visit in the next couple weeks. But before I go, I want to make sure I can actually get in. Give me chances as if I were not a recruited athlete, but also as I were a recruited athlete. Thanks.

Here are my stats:

I live in Michigan
GPA: 2.802
ACT: 25(retaking, probably going to get a 27-29)
SAT: 560 on CR, 560 on M, 610 on W

4 years of lacrosse, we won the state championship this past season.

3 years of IM basketball.

3 years of drumline/band.

Just got a job at a restaurant.

I've done some volunteer work, not a ton.

Thanks in advance for your help.

anyone???

Can’t say with certainty, of course…SATs fall nicely within their middle 50%…GPA is a bit low, their avg is about 3.5…hopefully you got off to a shakey start, then improved steadily. Did you take an Honors, AP, IB curriculum? DS entered McD in Fall 2006 as the top recruited athlete in his sport. SATs were lower than yours, but GPA was 3.6. However, DS transferred out after a successful Freshman year to a large state school.

Regardless of whether you want to play NCAA, I’d make contact with Admissions and cultivate a strong working relationship with one individual (DS worked through Heidi Reigel…nice person, very helpful and supportive) so that perhaps they can give you a clearer picture of how competitive you might be. Also, a strong show of interest in the institution does make a difference in your chances…so email, call, visit, etc.

As you might imagine, being a recruited athlete can make a substantial difference if you’re marginal. Go where you’re happy; fit is everything.

Good luck.
