I was born in Montreal and have citizenship there but I am currently in a US highschool. My weighted GPA is 4.31 and my unweighted GPA is 3.8. My SAT score is a 1950 (CR: 570 WR: 630 M:750). I'm going to be taking the SAT again and the ACT for the first time in October.

I'm also involved in various clubs at school including Engineering Club, Physics Club, French Club, Key Club, Rotary Interact Club. I'm have been a member of my school's swimming team ever since freshman year. I'm interested in McGill because my dad graduated there with cum laude. I've heard that McGill is extremely difficult to get into and I've also heard that it is easy. What are my chances?

I agree with Catria, your chances vary depending on which school you are applying to. But, considering that you are Canadian (so am I!) and your dad is a McGill alumni, you have a pretty good chance of getting in. Pulling your SAT score up would help though. Good luck!

McGill admits strictly by the numbers. Here are the mimimum stats required. Legacy plays no part in the decision. You will be evaluated as an American applicant as that is where your secondary study has been. If admitted, you would pay the Quebec tuition rate though.

I apologize for not mentioning. I was planning on majoring in Engineering, possibly Chemical or Bio-medical Engineering. If that doesn’t work, I can always major in Finance or something since I have a knack for numbers and math.

I also forgot to mention that I took the Math I SAT II (650) and the Chemistry SAT II (630)

Although your GPA is high enough (an A- average is about 3.7-ish) I think you’re on the fence. I’d say that you might have a chance but cross your fingers.
