I’ve been considering applying to McGill, as well as Dalhousie, Waterloo, and Queen’s too for Fall 2005 undergraduate.
I live in a rural community of Canada, in the province of Nova Scotia. I wrote the SAT I test on October 9th (I got an 1150, 630M : 520V). The low verbal score is not really my fault. I had 100% unweighted in my Advanced English, which was the highest possible course and grade for my junior year. This shows a flaw in the curriculum (or lack there of) for last year. I thought I did better on the math part (ie: > 700), but oh well. These things happen.
Should I even forward my SAT grades to the school or not when I apply?
Here’s some of my stats:
GPA: 97.0% end of last term (junior year grade 11)
Honors: Have maintained an 85% or higher average throughout junior and senior high
SAT I: 1150 (630M : 520V)
AP: English Lang- 2, English Lit- 2 (scores from junior year, will be taking again at end of this year along with courses mentioned below)
Rank: 1 of ~70 at the end of junior year
Course Selection: Most rigorous available (AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP English, AP Biology, and Global Geography [compulsory])
Extracurriculars: -Senior Executive Student Council (Recording Secretary) (1 year)
-Senior School Newspaper Reporter (2 years)
-Curling for a school team, and a personal team (3 years)
-Call to Remembrance in freshman year and in junior high (3 years)
-Will be playing Softball in the spring
-Have been golfing for 6 years
-Ice Hockey for a personal team in freshman year and in junior high (6 years)

Volunteering: -Will be tutoring by the end of the year.
-I volunteer doing odd jobs for the local curling club (ice cream booth at the annual carnival)
-I volunteer doing things for the Liberal party locally (march in parades, etc)
Other: -Attended the 2004 Dalhousie University Science and Engineering week (invitational event, one student per school from my province)
-Reach for Dalhousie Program (it’s like Reach for the top)
-Part time job for Humpty Dumpty Snack Foods around 10 hours per week during the school year
-Came 1st in my school at a math competition for Grade 11 (made provincial list)
-Came 2nd in my school at a math competition for Grade 10
-Parents are both seasonal employees (mother laid off for 2 months per year, father laid off for 3 months per year)
So do I have a chance?
