What are my chances at umich. My unweighted gpa is 3.3. My SAT score is still to be determined. It is probably gona be between 2000 and 2100. But like I go to a really tough private school(average SAT score is like 2100). I took 5 AP's as of now and I am including 4 AP's in senior year.

My extracurriculars are really solid with eagle scout and many awards and science fair.

Are you in-state or OOS? If in-state, what school do you go to? Are you a legacy? Michigan will adjust for the fact that you go to a competitive h.s.

Not so sure about that snorky. I thought that until i saw posters like CCRunner. They say they do, but there's only so much they can adjust and only so much they know about individual schools OOS.

I'll just post the same thing I did in another thread:

"Well. I applied practically on the LAST DAY and got in with a 2150. XD unweighted GPA 3.55, wieghted 4.0. I guess the secret is to write some great essays.

It was kind of a bad idea to apply so late though... I got all my info back way late. (Too late to go to a Campus Day.)"

Also I'd taken 2 Aps jr yr, and now 2 sr yr.

since they use a point system, selection index or whatever its called, is there a cutoff for how many points are necessary to be admitted to michigan?

The old point system is gone, but they are scoring applications -- and things like legacy, residency, quality of h.s., difficulty of curriculum - still count. Your school will provide a profile to Michigan and that document will tell them enough to judge if your school is competitive or not. You'll get credit for taking so many difficult classes. For OOS, I'd say your stats are a little low, but possibly within range. It's worth a shot!

Does UofM "bunch" together scores like they used to? Like getting a 31 was the same as getting a 35 or a 36. Do they still do that? So if someone gets like, a 32 or 33, they shouldn't retake for a higher ACT?

Swam: you have a shot. Out of state will hurt, but get a great test score and you have a shot for sure. UofM is a huge public school so the randomness you see in college admissions is magnified by a hundreds. Apply and see what happens

Another thing is that the applicant pool changes from year to year, and they like geographic diversity. So -- maybe next year they won't get so many applications from California and maybe not so many applications overall. Your ECs are very good. Congratulations on your Eagle Scout achievement. Study hard for your exams this year, study for the SATs, write great essays, and apply in September.

do they count senior year grades when calc. uofm gpa?
Like, after you send in your app and you get deferred.

After seeing so many kids getting in with low gpa's I can't help but wonder how michigan's average gpa is a 3.7.
Getting B+ and A's in all AP and AC classes should get you a GPA of 3.7-3.8 at my school. That same person's GPA could very well be a 3.4 after mich rounds down.
