extracurrics- editor in chief of newspaper, yearbook, 8 years of piano +competitions, national Honors society

Compared to the students who have gone to Michigan from my public high school...I feel like you have a really nice chance.

thanks... anyone else...please?

In. My stats were about the same (GPA little lower, SATs little higher) and I got into Honors.

Yeah no chance of rejection.

when did you apply?
that has a lot to do with it too. i know people who should have been shoo-ins who aren't attending Michigan because they applied too late.

i got waitlisted with a higher sat score and around the same average.

Did you apply early red06? Plus if his piano competition is strong, thats pretty big right there. A lot of piano players I know who have been hardcore about it, have gotten into all the great schools.

i think im going to apply pretty early, like september or october

O... do they need SATII?

I don't think so

I like your chances. Michigan usually accepts students with your credentials. However, I have known quite a few students with your credentials that have been deferred or even turned down.

Be careful not to use this year's USNWR as a benchmark. The 62% acceptance rate is a couple of years old. Last year, Michigan accepted 55% of its applicants. This year has been a little more difficult than usual, with over 25,000 applicants for fewer than 12,000 acceptances (45%). Next year should be even more difficult if the trend (10%-15% increase in applicant pool and improved yield rate from 40% to 45%) of the last 4 years persists. I can realistically see Michigan receive over 27,000 applications for fewer 11,000 acceptances (40%). I do not foresee this trend continuing beyond that point, but I think the days when Michigan accepted over 50% of its applicants are gone.

Apply as early as possible (September if possible) and you have a good chance.
