GPA: 4.4/5.0 ; Class Rank: 6/52. Fixed Curriculum, no AP or IB.

SAT: 1220 retaking, at least getting a 1280(not sure if I should submit it.)

SAT II: Writ. 570, Math Ic 640, French 650, Spanish 800.

ECs: Scuba diving, soccer football, 500+ hrs of Com. Service, Debate club, environmental club and miscellaneous cultarl activities. I held leadership possitions mostly everywhere. I am too lazy to further on them, basically I am very involved in each however none of them are internationally/nationally ranked ****.

Wk experience: Network Administrator in a small telecom company, English-Spanish Interpreter for a big American Company, Health Claims adjuster for an important national insurance Co. and webmaster/creative for the events committee of a bar/club.

Recomendations: They are good I guess, I could post them if requested.

Essays: I'll be sending 4 essays; One on how have I "grown" in this gap year, the Second on "how have your values been tested" I'll go for my change from catholicism to agnosticism, the Third one would be on my passion for languages and self-teaching myself Russian, the Fourth one is suppossed to be a "graded paper" and I have no idea were I'll get that **** from; I will probably ask them for the permission to send a random essay.

what? u can read ur recommendations?
everything is ok, except for ur sat (I and II). r u planning to retake SATII as well? i suggest u improve ur writing score as middlebury is a liberal arts college n they want to see good writing skills.

Teachers allowed me to read them last year.

I don't know if I have enough time to improve my scores. I will be taking the SAT I in November 6th. Is it worth it to retake the tests? This will be my third attempt for the Writing SAT, and maybe I could do math IIC.

wow, that's so nice. can u request a change in the recommendation? lol.
it's always worth it to retake sats (unless if u've hit the 1600 mark) because they'll only look at the highest score. if you get a lower score this time, they'll disregard this score and look for the best score.
in short, just take as many sats as possible by nov (for early) and dec (for regular). there's nothing to lose!

i will definitely ask for financial aid. the thing is my family can only affor around $5000 per year and i'm scared that middlebury is not a fully need-blind college. i'm afraid they'll reject me just because i require too much financial aid. after all, you never know how need-blind middlebury is... (they say they're need-blind, but can we trust 'em?)

Mid is VERY generous. There pride is their international community, and they look forward to keep it like that. My family's EC is also around 5k, I am willing to take more loans to make it 3k.

By the way what are your stats? Are you applying ED1?

"Essays: I'll be sending 4 essays; One on how have I "grown" in this gap year, the Second on "how have your values been tested" I'll go for my change from catholicism to agnosticism, the Third one would be on my passion for languages and self-teaching myself Russian, the Fourth one is suppossed to be a "graded paper" and I have no idea were I'll get that **** from; I will probably ask them for the permission to send a random essay."
hey im applying for middlebury too. arent there only 3 essays? (1. common app. 2. "how ur values were tested" 3. the graded essay)
for the second one i was also intending to write on my conversion to atheism but decided to scrap it because its too controversial and might be offensive.

i just realised almost everyone here will be writing "religious conversion" on the "tested values" essay. i thought of writing about that also (i converted from islam to catholicism a few years ago) but i don't i had any values in particular that were tested when i converted. so any suggestion?
