Chances at MIT/CalTech

Hi,

So I have three 800s in SAT math ii, Chem, and physics. A 2400 on the SAT. About eight 5's on AP exams. I have a 5.0+ GPA and is ranked 1 at my school. I do science Olympiad, the AMC's, state math contests-got a few state and regional awards, but no national awards. I am an officer of two clubs and founded one of my own. I have community service hours at the library, but never did any service projects. My school is good, but not a elite one (ranked bronze by US News). Another disadvantage is that I'm Chinese.

What are my chances of getting into CalTech or MIT? I know a lot of people with just as good scores and national recognition(which I don't have) apply, so I would really like to know where I stand.

Thanks!

You have the basal stats but without either research or nationally-recognized STEM awards, it will be difficult.

Still, you could easily be admitted, it’s just that it will be much harder to predict (based upon recs or essays).

For Caltech, with which I have experience, you will need to write a very powerful Feynmann essay. Anyway, good luck.
