My Chances at Various Schools

I've applied EA to MIT
I'm also applying to Davidson College (does anyone know how hard it is to get a merit scholarship there?), Georgia Tech, Furman, and USC Honors

I go to a pretty good public high school in South Carolina with alums at all five of these schools

Work:
Well over 500 hours in Chem Lab at USC researching a novel method for the assemblage of gold nanorods in solution
Good News, I paper I co-authored while at USC is going to be published in the ACS Journal Langmuir!

Other:
My Essay was pretty good. It was on previous realization that the much stressed childhood concept of equality was false.
Optional Response on object of creation/idea was a paper submitted to my research advisor as a summary of my work

Had my MIT Interview-I think the interviewer really liked me and he was really interested in all of the activities I am involved with

Sorry for the excess of information and any other colleges I should consider for chemistry major that will be a pretty good match/slight reach and similar to my list of schools

I say your in at GA tech and Davidson. Good job public forum. I do that also.

Any projections for MIT or trying to be nice?

I don't think I have any really interesting angle for them, and without that I'm fairly on level with all of their other good applicants, so I don't know...

Decent Shot at MIT because of your research experience.

Should stand a good chance of being accepted to all your schools. Good interviews, good ecs with captain and president of numerous science related clubs. Good chance overall.

Anyone else with an opinion?

Does anyone know how many people are selected for the different stages of the Belk Scholarship at Davidson? What about Georgia Tech's Presidential Scholars?

I'm (most likely, still haven't officially signed) going to Davidson for track and your stats are far more impressive than mine (1310 SAT / 35/277th class rank, though I had more ECs and ) so I'd say you're definitely in there as well as GA Tech.
The Belk Scholarship selects only ten students, and an on campus interview is required March 17-18th, 2005, so if you want it you better make plans to get down there.
I'd say you have a pretty good shot at MIT also, because of your research work and you said the interview went well. You can't go wrong at any of the schools you're applying to, though.

Anyone Else?

Bump it up!
