Here are my stats:
GPA: 100 (I guess it's equivalent to UW 4.0)
SAT: 2280 (800 Math, 740 Reading Comprehension, 740 Writing)
SAT II: 800 Math Level 2, 690 Chemistry (re-taking in a week)(does MIT require two SAT 2's, or three?)
I'm taking 3 AP's this year (Math BC, Spanish, and Biology), will be valedictorian in a class of about 40, and have fairly good EC's.
Thanks to anyone who answers.

As good as any.

Maybe if you were a SOX fan. But the Mets? I dunno

Although I should say, MIT requires three subject tests. One in math, one in a science, one in any of your choice.

I also think that if your considering a top college you should show them how much you want to go by knowing everything they need and researching them the best you can. Of course with RD, you still have time :).

class of 40? you go to a private school?
anyways Id say you have as good of a chance as anyone else, maybe see if you have anything that could make you stand out from everyone else

Chris: Chances are he's considering another high-prestige university that has single-choice early action or early decision or somesuch like that, which is perfectly okay. MIT isn't right for everyone, and if he feels like another school suits him better, then that's great for him.

To all prospective students, I thoroughly recommend http://my.mit.edu.

yeah im applying MIT as well(as a huge reach may i add) the blogs on the MIT undergrad site are awesome :D they give you great insight into what goes on at the school

that reminds me how much I would love to go there sigh

Thanks for everyone's responses. As for liking the Red Sox, I always root for them and the Indians once the Mets are out (which seems like every year, now). And this year I like the Red Sox more than ever, 'cause they have John Olerud.
Olo, you're absolutely right, I am applying ED to another high-prestige school (Columbia). Since it seems as though the ivy league schools decide on admission by putting everyone's application on the floor, bringing in a cow and seeing whose application it "goes" on, I think that it's very important to have second third, fourth, and maybe even fifth choices. Oh, well, guess I'll be self-teaching myself another SAT II in the next two months. I self-taught myself most of the math, so hopefully it will work again.
